"Why? Because it'll sound bad in the newspaper?! I can just see it now; 'Youngest Calagari in Hospital, Father Beats Him?' Is that what's worrying you?!"

"Or maybe it's because you really don't care what happens to him, you heartless-"

I keep my eyes closed. I don't need them open to know what's going on. Mom and Dad are fighting over me again...but why? I don't need to go to the hospital....do I? The voices immediately hush down and footsteps rush to the door. I can hear my mom's new pink heels clacking away on the marble floor and dad's shoes hit the floor with angry steps. Great. Now he's really mad. 

The door flies open as my mom latches onto me. Again with that feeling.....I can smell the blood....And her heartbeat.....I can hear her heartbeat, it's in sync with dads....and another....there's another hear beating, but it's not mine....then who's....?

Mom slaps my face lightly a couple of times. Except, I'm not really paying attention to her anymore. I'm looking at my dad. His face his cool and collected. As if he didn't just have a fight with mom. My mom keeps shaking me, trying to change my attention, but it doesn't work. I'm really hungry.

It smells so...sweet.

My vision blacks out momentarily.

In between the flashes of black, I can see my mom on the floor. She looks terrified. Why? So small, so fragile.....

Mom and Ebony are screaming. Nimue is just standing in the doorway. And dad is....

I can smell the sweet scent. It's even sweeter than mom's. It smells really good....

The gunshot rings throughout my room. I come back to my senses quickly only to find myself holding my dad against a now crumbling wall, with elongated teeth that looks as though I'm about to stick into his neck. I feel a slight tingle in my mid-back.

Staggering backwards, I feel something wet on my stomach. Blood. My eyes are watering now. I look towards my doorway, where the shot was fired. Enigma is standing there. She looks terrified. Ebony is crouched down on the floor with mom. They flinch when I turn their way. Nimue is at Enigma's feet, too astonished to do anything. I look back at my dad. He looks...surprised. Maybe even a little scared...
