Finally, Roxanne made a sound. A gagging sound. A sound of faint misery, but still, this was progress. "Roxanne, it's not like we have partner work in this class. Besides, even if we do-" I was cut short by Emmaline.
She stuck up her nose and stated plainly, "Gwen, you're coming with me." I looked blankly at Roxanne, who didn't do anything but stare a bit strangely at the track. Next thing I know, I'm pulled by the arm to some private corner of the school. Way to go, kiddo. You're about to get raped for the first time! Ugh! Conscience, why don't you like me..? I don't because I love you. Don't you remember me? I thought for a moment, then gave up. No. That's not important. Get back into the real world. I think I lost my sanity. Or whatever was left of it.
"Here's the deal, Myers," she implied, making my last name sound like it was ratchet, or however the people would say it. "You're going to witness a lot of cruel and unusual things in this world. You'll be the witness of all that's going down tomorrow. This will explain everything," she stated casually, placing a phone in my hands. I didn't have a phone before. I was thankful. "Watch the video on the camera roll. Bye." She retreated like nothing happened, leaving me in the middle of nowhere. I dashed behind her so I wouldn't be late for class, and it was unreal that I wasn't late.
"What happened?" Roxanne asked, concern in her tone. "Don't worry, nothing bad. Now stop scaring me and be your silly self," I chimed, punching her playfully in the arm. She chuckled and gave in. "Okie dokie artichokie, but just so you know, I was remembering how me and Emmaline weren't friends anymore." I was taken aback by this. They were friends? They can't stand each other! I don't think. Then I remembered the phone. I decided I'd pull it out later.
"I'm your Physical Education teacher, Mr. Gonge. I'd appreaciate it if everyone-" the old man's eyes whipped around to see Richard Best. He then forgot everyone else. "If it isn't Richard Best. Your last name suits you well. Keep being the best you can be."
This is sickening. This is scary. I want to go and snuggle up into a burrito of sadness. I just realized it was last year all over again. Except different, possibly. I had Mr. Gonge last year, and so did Best. Throughout the entire year, all I could really remember about his class was how he picked favorites, and Richard was definitely one of them. He was his Gonge's absolute favorite for his athletic abilites. However, I wasn't the only one weirded out. Roxanne was too, and once she started chuckling, everyone did.
"Now, now, what is all this laughter about? Are you all watching something on the FaceTube?" The elder asked sincerely. This just made everyone laugh. Hard. Our PE teacher told us to go check out the locker rooms. So girls went to theirs and boys went to theirs. Roxanne said I should go on ahead. I'm usually not one to eavesdrop, but, I just felt the need to. Something was up.
"Miss Brown," a voice announced. That cocky little- Okay conscience, I think I know who it is.
"What's up, Dickypoo?" she asked casually. He had this look on his face that was completely priceless. That aside, however, he shrugged it off and continued.
"I do have to say, you look great today," he said, casually getting closer.
She looked down and jiggled her stomach. "What the hell are you saying?" I laughed at this, and slipped into the lockeroom. She can handle him. It was at that moment that I decided to see the video on my new iPhone. On the screen, I saw Emmaline Sawyer and Richard Best. They were sitting across from each other, playing truth or dare. Best picked 'Dare'. Then, I heard the most unbelievable words.
"I dare you to get Roxanne to fall for you. You cannot retreat until she says yes or no to you asking her out. That is the dare."
He nodded, as if to be considering it. "Why not." I heard him say. I was taken aback by this.
Just then, in the video, Sawyer got up and went to wherever the recording was coming from. Perhaps the phone? Shut up conscience I'm trying to explain, dammit. Anyway, she said some strange things that I didn't know she would say to me.
"Don't tell a soul that this was a dare. Do not tell Roxanne. If you do, this phone is mine, and your highschool years will be completely, and not to mention, utterly, ruined."
"Emmaline, are you okay..?" I could hear him ask awkwardly. I then saw it. She blushed. She turned the recording off. I was baffled.
Well that's awkward. I examined the locker room with wide eyes. It was so... clean! The lockers were a shiny green, glimmering under the bright lights on the ceiling. "That was so weird," I heard Roxanne mutter as she walked in. Coincidence? I think not! Well, yeah, conscience, Emmaline set it up. "What happened?" I asked 'curiously', pretending I didn't know anything. "Well, Dickard was talking to me. It was weird," she stated, laughing.
I laughed and shook my head. "Okay then."
PE went pretty slow. Mr. Gonge couldn't go two seconds without complimenting and kissing up to Richard. Mrs. Hallow is very nice, but has this really scary smile. I don't even want to think about Mr. Zeole. He must be on his period or something- he is really self-centered and he won't stop talking. He needs help. Fifth period, Digital Arts, was really fun, something I wanted it to be. I like my teacher in there, so that's good. Now for lunch- if I can find anybody...
