It all happened so quickly. One moment the 6 of us were standing in the rain, observing the cold forming from the once black ink. Now I was being lead by Ashe through the extremely dark, stone and dust filled tunnels. My arms were pretty much our only light, and Ashe was having me hover my arm over her book so that she could read. "Okay, it says that just past this way will be the stone holder that leads to the chambers. We should have your team wait up here, that way we know we'll have a safe way coming back up." Ashe explained, glancing at me then at the others. I hesitate, glancing around, then realize it'd be best. I nod. "Ashe is right. You four remain above ground, make sure nobody disturbs what might happen below." With that, Ashe and I share a nod before we descend deeper.
After a while of walking, we approach a golden serpent statue that appears to be guarding the tomb. "Ready your weapons. I have no idea what lies inside." She whispered to me, drawing her large scythe from her back. I followed, clenching my fists as I allowed my sword and shield to form in my hands. We walk ahead, and she goes forward as I find myself glancing around at the room. There are large caskets decorating the stone of the walls, different marks engraved along the lines of the wall. I feel my boots stepping against something metallic, then pause to look down. I stand in the center of a large golden circle, 3 different rings within it. There are small markings that look like Greek letters, and just as I was about to ask- a rip of pain spreads through my abdomen and sides. I gasp for air, realizing what had happened. Ashe had spun around, slicing her blade directly through the middle of my body. Blood poured endlessly like a running river, as I collapsed to my knees, my weapons falling from my grip. "W........Why....." I whisper weakly, blood now pouring from my lips. Tears fill my eyes. Not from the physical pain, but from the pain that I had just been betrayed by my closest childhood friend. "I'm sorry dear friend.... But I must take this empowerment. You do not bestow what it takes to lead the fallen..." She told me, grabbing up my weapons. My vision followed Ashe, as she sunk my shield into a slot, followed by my sword. There was a loud rumble, and the room began to shine gold. That was the last thing I see- before darkness takes me.. Maybe for eternity.
Sorry it's so short! I just wanted to get something out there.... ANNNDDD a major plot twist too c:
