Skyla & Nyla: A Bond Like No Other

Chapter 1

"Okay class, don't forget your project is due next week. Have a great weekend!" Mrs. Jewels stated to the class before dismissing them. Skyla was tired and ready to go home but she had been up all night. She was babysitting her baby brother Zayvier while her mother was out and her twin sister Nyla was no where to be found.
Skyla and Nyla looked just alike. The only difference was their hair. While Skyla had short sandy brown hair styled into a bob with purple streaks, Nyla had long sandy brown hair with blue streaks. They both had matching belly button rings and dressed alike occasionally. Nyla liked sports while Skyla loved singing. Skyla liked wearing Jordans and Nyla liked wearing Nikes.
Skyla was headed towards her next class when Nyla stopped and spoke to her. "Sky do you think we could leave early I'm not feeling too good?" Skyla turned to look at her sister and said, "Yeah we can go home I'm tired anyways." "Thanks sis, come with me to my locker?" Nyla asked not wanting to go by herself. "Yeah I'll go with you."

As the twins made their way through the crowd, Skyla felt someone watching her. She turned and studied her surroundings but she didn't see anyone looking her direction. She wanted to look deeper into the crowd but decided against it. It would take years to spot one single person in a crowd that big. She just didn't know that the person was closer than she thought.
By time she caught herself it was too late, Skyla was flat on the floor. "I'm sorry I didn't see you there." A voice she didn't recognize said. Skyla looked up and was speechless at what she saw. He was tall about 6'3 with caramel skin and dreads down to his upper back. It wasn't until he reached out to help her up with a smile that she realized the gold teeth in his mouth and the snake tattoo on his arm.
"It's ok, I should have been paying attention." She responded back as she reached up for his hand. He pulled her up and shook her hand, " I'm Kareem but you can call me Reem" " I'm Skyla, you can call me Sky." " Is it ok if I get your number?" He asked hoping she said yes.
"Sure," Sky reached for his phone that he had stretched out towards her. She put her number in his phone and handed it back to him. "See you later?" He asked not really sure what to say back. "Umm, actually no I'm headed home." "Why so early?" He asked with a playful pouty face that made Skyla laugh.
"I'm tired and my sister isn't feeling well." "That sounds bad, I didn't know you had a sister." Skyla smirked while taking her books out of his arms, "That's because I haven't told you, now if you don't mind I have to go." He looked at her with a grin on his face as she walked away.
