barney picked up Anastasia and carried to the truck, "where to malady?" he said with a grin.
Anastasia giggled as her eyes sparkled in the silver moonlight. " peeper hill, please." her soft pink lips whispered. barney grabbed the medal truck key from his brown leathery belt and turn on the truck. the AC blew cool air in Anastasia's face as they raced down the street light- lighten road. they went to the country where Anastasia's house stood but they zooming past. "just another mile or so." she squeaked.
"here?" his deep voice whispered only loud enough for her ears to hear. he pulled in and parked in the single space parking lot at the base of the hill. the hill raised slowly up to the moon where it stopped and looked down at the meadow and tree. Anastasia and barney walked up the hill to the tree she took off her jacket and fell to the ground as she does every night. she took in the night humidity and invited barney to lay next to her. he sat down next to her as she sat up and leaned into his arms.
"can i tell you something?" Anastasia whispered to his ear.
"you can tell me anything buttercup." he whispered back with a curious face. Anastasia sat up and scooted to face him. she took his big hands in hers.
"can i tell you about Bradley?" she said with a more serious face. her eyes water a tad but she wiped them dry as she stared at him.
"buttercup...i told you, you can tell me anything. if you're ready to talk about it I'm here to listen. ok?" he said squeezing her hands.
"Bradley was driving home from work. a drunk was driving home from the bar. Bradley tried to brake. b-but..." she stopped to gain her whimpering breath.
"take your time buttercup. its ok, take your time." he whispered.
'it was too late. Bradley rammed into the back of the drunks car. the drunk was perfectly fine he didn't get hurt at all just a bill from his car. there were people behind Bradley. they bashed into him. by the time the second car hit him he was turned around and his legs were nearly cut off. the ambulance came and fire trucks too. the fire men were trying a new kind of tool to cut open the crippled car. it let a single spark out and the next second an explosion of fire broke out. it burned some
of the firemen but that was the least of the problems. Bradley was fried. burnt. his skin had charcoal covering it. he was over. that's when they pulled him out. they called me 2 minutes later. i can remember that deep voice trying to be sympathetic to me:
"ma'am. is your husband Bradley J. Fransor?"
"yes...may I ask why?"
"ma'am I am very sorry...your husband has been in a car wreck. he is currently not breathing and the chances of survival are slim to none. we have done everything we
can do."
i was so choked all I could muffle out of my lips were whimpers of fear. the man that saved my life from the hand of death but i guess death took his for mine...
i cried and collapsed to the floor as the cop unemotionally said. "if you would like to see the body of Bradley Fransor I advise to come now or never." i got up and ran out the door to the car. i floored the car to its top speed and went to the hospital. i ran in after i saw Bradley's body on a gurney. the shredded, burnt, love of my life. dead on a gurney." Anastasia's watch beeped 10 o clock. " i come here every night. he talks to me through the butterflies." as her lips spoke that sentence a flock of butterflies rose from the ground and swirled around them. barneys eyes widened as he looked at the beauty. the yellow butterfly separated and came down to Anastasia and landed on her nose as always. she closed her eyes and visioned Bradley.
"my darling, barney is the one. i love you but move on my darling look at you you're so lonely and filled with sorrow. please my love, stay strong." Bradley whispered
then faded into the darkness. the butterfly left her nose and landed on barneys hand barney froze and felt this shock of spirit in him. he looked at Anastasia's eyes and saw Maria.
"my teddy bear, she is for you. i love you so much but you need to move on look at yourself so sad and lonely. please darling, stay strong." she whispered then faded
back to Anastasia's eyes.
"barney...can i stay at your house tonight?" Anastasia asked quietly.
"of course you can buttercup." barney answered. the butterflies vanished into the moonlight and they got up barney walked to Anastasia and hugged her so close. closer than he ever had. she squeezed him back and felt his warmth. he let go and took her to the truck. they drove to his house where she walked in almost immediately greeted by the aroma of lavender. she stumbled to the bedroom and dropped onto the pillow top. barney lifted her and laid her there correctly and put a blanket on her tired body.
"barney..." she said softly.
"yes buttercup?" he answered
"stay with me?" she begged.
"if you want buttercup." he said as he wondered to the side of the bed and slipped under the covers with her. she hugged him and pulled him close. there they cuddled and lay until they fell asleep. Anastasia woke up the next morning to an empty bed. at first she felt abandoned as if he left her being uncomfortable. but hate she heard the bacon sizzling from the kitchen. she walked out and found barney making breakfast for her.
"now how is this a surprise breakfast in bed if you're out of bed?" barney said with a smile. Anastasia smiled and offered to help but barney insisted her go back to bed.
