they hugged in the field whispering comforting things to one another. finally barney squeezed Anastasia then released her. as he began to turn away to get back to work, Anastasia grabbed his hand and gave it a slight pull leading to her. he turned back to face Anastasia and as he did he looked in her deep blue eye sparkling out her soul. he looked far and deep in her eyes and there stood marie, his love, the woman he loves but passed 2 years ago.
"so...what do you think?" Anastasia said softly.
""w-what? sorry I spaced out in your deep beautiful blue eyes..." barney said stuttering trying to shake himself out the illusion.
"oh....um....ok? I was just asking if maybe we could get a coffee after work or something? if you don't want to its fi-" barney cut off her words hushing her and placing his index finger on her lips. stopping the words from slipping from her lips.
"hush buttercup. id love to come." he said with a soft smile on his face. Anastasia smiled back and put her head down looking at her muddy sneakers. his hand dropped from her lips to her chin as he slowly raised her head. "we should get to work, buttercup." his hand floated from her chin to her side where her hand hung down. he took her hand softly and stroked her petite hand with his thumb. a blush broke through her buttermilk cheeks. he lead her to the store on the other side of the corn field then went to the stalk room to check on the supplies. after work and the shop closed, barney rushed to the front desk of the store to meet Anastasia. his heart was racing as he saw the beautiful Anastasia look up to him with her deep blue eyes.
"are you ready?" barney said softly as he held out his hand. she gracefully placed her hand in his and he closed his hand as she got up her shoe caught on the chair and she tripped to the floor spraining her ankle. "ANASTASIA! ARE YOU OK!" barney yelled in astonishment.
"god, why am I so clumsy! im an idiot!"
"barney dove down to her and hugged her and whispered in her ear, "hush buttercup, youre perfect." Anastasia looked at her swelling ankle and then back into barneys golden brown eyes, a little brighter than bradleys. she hugged him close and squeezed him slightly.
" I don't think I can walk, you can go ahea-" barney stopped her in the middle of her sentence by picking her up and holding her in his arms.
"its fine I got this" he smiled and took her to his truck and placed her in the passenger's seat. he drove about a mile down the road to the coffee shop and carried her inside. he put her down on a small couch and pulled a chair up from a nearby table. the peppy waitress sprung over to them with a big red lipstick smile.
"HOW MAY I HELP THIS FINE COUPLE!? I MUST SAY YOU TWO ARE QUITE CUTE TOGETHER!" she said quite loudly.
"oh were not-" barney started but Anastasia interrupted him.
"thank you! I would like the pumpkin spice ginger with 2 creams and one pack of cinnamon and 1 1/2 spoons of sugar, please.!" barney smiled at her and she smiled back.
"ill just have the cherry mocha chocolate 3 creams no sugar." barney said to the waitress as she scribbled down their orders.
" OKAY! WELL YOU TWO STAY CUTE AND ILL BE RIGHT BACK!" the waitress sang as she spun around and pranced off to the kitchen.
Anastasia shivered and rubbed her goosebumped arms "im cold!" she whispered. barney got up and picked Anastasia up off the couch "w-what are you doing!?!?" Anastasia said with a slight panic.
"calm down" barney said with a chuckle. he turned her around and sat on the couch with Anastasia in his arms. "i'll warm you up until the coffee gets here." he said quietly as Anastasia squirms so she could hug him and get warm. the waitress came back not as jumpy as before because she had two white cups of steaming coffee in her hands she placed them on the chair as she scooted up a table next to them.
"AWWWWWWW! I SWEAR YOU TWO ARE SOOOO CUTE!" she got the coffees and brought the steaming cups to them. barney held Anastasia close as he scooched up so they were more upright. he took him coffee and took a sip.
"AHHH perfecto!!" he said smiling at the waitress. barney handed Anastasia her coffee and she took a gulp.
"its simply delightful!" she said sipping more down.
"IM SO HAPPY YOU LIKE IT! REALLY YOU TWO YOURE TOO MUCH CUTENESS!! the waitress said as she sprung up and down of excitement.
" WENDY! GO TO TABLE A4!!" another waitress shouted across the room.
"COOOMMMIINNNGG!" wendy sang as she skipped to an old couple. barney and Anastasia sat there and laughed and talked and had a great time till her wristwatch beeped 9.
" we should probly get home. we left your truck at the shop I can drop you off at home and pick you up in the morning?" barney suggested.
" actually..." Anastasia whispered.
"yeah?" barney said confused.
"can I stay with you until 9:30 then can I show you something? it would mean a lot..." Anastasia asked nervous and a bit sick to her stomach.
"OF COURSE!" barney said with a big white smile on his face.
