Chapter 2
The shot came from around the corner, The exact spot we had been hanging out at before. Max ran back around the corner. I followed and stopped in my tracks when i saw the scene. My bestfriend from kindergarten was laying on the ground holding her side. Hailey was next to her trying to get her to focus. You could already hear sirens. I looked around, wondering where the shot came from. Then, i saw it. Tyler was running AWAY from the scene. I ran after him. Chad ran the other way past me and i turned my head to see him run straight for Alyssa. Tyler tripped in front of me and landed face first on the ground. I caught up to him as he was trying to get back up. I grabbed his shirt and wipped him around. The gun was in his hand. My first instinct was to beat the shit out of him. But i didn't, i just looked at him in shock. Why would he do that? Why Alyssa?
I heard footsteps behind me. It was Max. He came up to Tyler and looked down at his hand, holding the gun. Max punched him. Tyler fell to the ground. His nose started to bleed. I turned to max and started yelling at him. "What is your problem!? I know he has the gun but you just punched him. Max your gonna get expelled! Max go! Run!" I screamed at him. He turned around and ran into the nearest woods. I decided to just leave Tyler there. He deserved it. I ran back to Alyssa and her eyes were finally open. Everybody was crowding around the scene. Hailey couldn't stand the sight of blood so i told her to walk away and i got the rest. I told Chad to take his shirt off and press it to the wounded area to stop the bleeding. He did exactly that. I then told Alyssa to look up at me if she could. It was faint but she mubbled a quiet word, "Tyler," She said. "I know he's being taken care of," I said back to her. "No he didn't shoot," She said. I looked at her curiously. I then looked at Chad and he just shrugged his shoulders.
The cop walked up to the scene and said that the ambulance was on its way. 2 minutes later Alyssa was being lifted into an ambulance and driven to the hospital. I sat there crying for what seemed like hours because my mom was at work and couldn't pick me up. Chad sat there with me and just held me. I was shaking uncontrolably and i was draining all the water out of my body by crying so much. Chad stroked my hair. "Shh! It's okay Braelyn. She'll be fine. I believe in her. She will get through this. It's okay," He said picking my head up and looking at me. "Chad, you don't understand. She's my best friend. Why would Tyler do that?" I sobbed even more. Chad just looked at me. He didn't say anything else and he just let me cry. Max ran up to us. He had so much fire in his eyes. I got up and hugged him. he hugged me back and we just stood there forever. Chad watched as Max kissed me and told me everything was going to be fine. Max was the jealous type, When he ran up he probably thought Chad was flirting or something so he kissed me to let Chad know i was his. Chad got up and stormed away.
