Chapter 5
I walked up to the door and rang the door bell. A woman came to the door. She looked a lot like Chad just in girl form. "Hello, Is there something i could help you with?" She asked opening the screen door. "Uh can i speak to chad?" I asked. "CHAD!," She yelled up the stairs. He came down the stairs and froze when he saw me. He regained the color in his face and came outside. "Uh mom? could you leave us alone?" He asked speaking to the woman. "Yeah sure just behave," she said closing the front door. "So...What do you want?" He asked looking at the ground. "Alyssa is in the hospital. Hailey, Max and I went to visit her and she told us something that we didn't expect," I said hesitating on the last word. "Yeah...And...?" He said with an attitude this time. "Did you see who shot her?" I asked nicely. "Nope, i was nowhere near the scene," He lied. "Okay i just figured since you came running when you heard the shot, that you might have seen who did it," I said turning away lke i was done with him. "I did see Tyler running in the other direction," He said. "Okay thanks. Bye," I said turning away and walking back to the sidewalk.
He lied to me. He looked me straight in the eye and lied to me. How could he do that? He knew i knew that he was the one who shot her. I made it obvious. Obvious that i was talking about him shooting Alyssa. I walked quietly in the direction i thought the hospital was in. It got really bright and i turned around to see a car coming behind me. It stopped next to me and Max was driving. He rolled down the window and told me to hop in. I did and he drove me back home. He got out of the car and walked around to my side of the car. He opened the door for me and i climbed out. My moms car wasn't in the driveway yet so i still had time to get my chores done. "Am i allowed inside?" Max asked. "Of course! My mom doesn't know we are dating yet and she is in love with you," I said grabbing my phone and shutting the door. I looked at my phone and i had a text from my mom.
I Heard about the shooting. r u ok? is alyssa ok? please reply. im worried about u.
Yes mom i am fine. alyssa is in the hospital but shes doing fine and shes awake. dont worry she is being taken care of. when r u coming home?
Ok. i will be home around 7:30 so if max is there, ask him if he wants to eat at our house.
He said he wouldnt mind and ok :)
I locked my phone and opened the door to the house. It was SERIOUSLY dark and i fumbled for the light switch in the hallway. I finally got it and turned around to see Max at the bottom of the stairs. He looked up the stairs and grabbed me. He pulled me in closer and kissed me. "Max, i have to work on my chores before my mom gets home," i said pushing away. "But you have time its only 5:30," He said pulling me in and kissing my neck. "How about i make a compromise with you," I said, "If we get my chores done before 6:30 we can do whatever you want." His eyes lit up and he went straight to where my chores were posted. "Oh this will be easy," He said getting a little too excited. He grabbed the vaccumm and plugged it into the wall in the living room and started cleaning. I grabbed the duster, turned on the radio and started cleaning. We were working really fast and we got done around 6:15.
