It was a near silent drive to the doctor's office. Xan's stomach was a bit uneasy as he was not looking forward to this. He had always just let his parents, namely his father, take Lys to the doctors appointments and got updates in regards to her after the fact. Arriving at the building his skin began to control.

He had been told from friends who had children that when it was your own child's dirty diaper or vomit that it made it some how less bad. Now Xan didn't know if he really believed that, but he could only assume that the same theory came to play here because when they walked into the doctor's office the sounds and scents assaulted his nose and he had to fight the urge to leave. His sister needed to see her doctors to continue to get her medicine to try to help her get better and he would not flee, no matter how much his gut instinct was to do so. He steeled himself and continued into the room with his sister who seemed mostly unaware behind him. He walked past the other patients, all with their own doctrines of maladies, to sign his sister in and them moved to an out of the way area to sit down. Looking around the room he saw a lot of patients, as the practice had several doctors, and he noticed that his sister was in the minority as she was one of the only ones there with what appeared to be family.

Lys sat and started talking again like she was greeting someone she hadn't seen in a while and her voice joined the odd din in the room. Xan looked around at the others taking them in and just reminded himself to give a raise to Margo. He saw some staff ignoring the others involving themselves with a magazine not caring what the person they were there to tend was doing. Be it talking, yelling, cursing or rocking they didn't pay them any mind. He knew that there had to be good staff out there, but he prayed that they weren't the exception to the rule. Xan wasn't into fantasy, he knew it was hard to make a living in this day and age and a job dealing with complicated health and mental problems problems (not even thinking about multiple people with complicated problems) was not one without stress and other additions that might not be worth what was being offered.

He sighed as his sister just went on, “Yes, we have had some nice weather recently...” she paused, as she normally did, “I know... we're just headed to market to take advantage of it” she gave a small laugh, “Say hello Xan... don't just ignore him it's rude” she stroked her brother's arm encouragingly, but he gazed to her lovingly and looked in front of them. No one was standing there and the doctor said encouraging the disease could cause more problems. She nodded, “Oh, no I couldn't he's family and he does help so... besides Thom just loves him”

A nurse walked into the waiting room. Her scrubs and smile breaking Xan's focus from his sister as she called out, “Lysandra Johnstone”

“Here” Xan called then chuckled, “She's right here” he corrected himself. He stood taking Lys' hand and guided her to her feet. She started to walk with him guiding her, but kept talking.

“Oh I know Jakob, but it will be alright. Sometimes I swear he understands” she said and that was when Xan heard it.

“But he could go mad like Jenkin's boy and hurt you Lysandra” his head snapped trying to narrow down the voice as they walked.

“Oh, not Xander, he's the bestest big brother there is” she hugged to Xander's arm. “He really is no harm”

“I don't know, Lysandra” the voice repeated and he saw. Across the room by the nurse there was a disheveled man sitting with an aide who was going through a binder of paperwork clearly working too many hours for probably not enough money, “He's mighty big and if he ever snapped I don't think you'd be safe”

Lysandra just gave a soft smile, “I appreciate your concern, but Xander would never harm me... he'd never snap...”

Xan froze looking between the man then his sister. “I... wait... what is going on?”

The nurse who was standing there looked confused at him, “Mr. Johnstone, your sister is here for a check up and an evaluation of her medicine” she said calmly.

“See what I mean, he's confused now” the man said and Xander looked to his eyes and the man looked into them and said, “look at that crazy look he has in his eyes”

“No, no I know why I brought her, but... but they are talking to each other” he let go of his sister and moved between them, “He knew her name, but they never met before” The other people who sat in the room with people being seen looked up with concern. They thought that the man was not the patient. Even the nurse looked over a bit concerned.

“Mr. Johnstone... please calm down and bring your sister in I need to check her vitals”

“Xan, you know Jakob he lives down the lane and has the farm” she touched his cheek softly.

His mind was reeling, “I.. this... but they are talking!”

The nurse walked over, “This way please” she had to get them out of the room or this could cause a very large scene. She could see other patients starting to get anxious and upset. Xander let her lead them to the other room. His head was going back to the unknown man who kept talking with his sister as they were ushered from the room.
