Twenty Five: All Together Again

Tom's POV

In the end, we went home (Lake House) last night as Lucy was completely out of it after surgery, so we just gave her a kiss and went.

This morning we pack up all our stuff, since we were gonna leave tomorrow anyway and load it up in Leo's car.

Hopefully, Lucy will get discharged today and we can all drive home.

Leo drives us all to hospital this morning, early as we could so we can be there when she wakes up properly.
We walk in to reception and sign in, and find our way to Lucy's room.

I hold Darcy's hand as we walk in. Darcy's been really brave.

"She's still sound," Leo whispers and goes straight to the bedside and strokes her hair.

"She looks so peaceful," Harry smiles.

I still can't believe she's even eleven, like Darcy, they are both tiny but Lucy looks especially tiny in the big hospital bed.

"Good morning, I'm Doctor Barnes," we all turn to the male doctor who shakes our hands. "So, Lucy's operation went well - there were no complications; however if she arrived much later, her appendix would have burst and that could have been fatal, so we were lucky. And well done for getting her here so quickly."

I breathed out, Leo looked tense while Darcy and Harry looked worried. I wrapped my arm around Darce and she leaned against me.

"She slept through the night, and the painkillers are working really well. So I propose, that, when she wakes up, after the nurses check her stitches, and she stays in her current stable condition, as long as she eats and drinks something, then she can go home late afternoon."

"Okay, that sounds great," Leo looks relieved.

The doctor talks to us for a few more minutes and then goes, telling us to let Lucy sleep.

"Right, shall we go get some coffees or something?" Harry stands up.

We didn't have much breakfast in the end due to packing and getting here.

"Good idea," I nod.

"How about we all go get coffee and breakfast and bring it back here, and Tom, could you stay here in case Lu wakes up?" Leo suggests.

"Yep, no problem," I nod.

I spend five minutes catching up on social media on my phone and I keep looking at Lu sleeping.

"Tom?" I hear a little mumble.

"Hey baby, your finally awake!" I kiss her cheek. "How are you feeling?" I stroke her hair back from her face and pull my chair closer to the hospital bed.

"Tired, and my stomach is sore," Lu mumbles. "Where's the others?"

"Aw, I think your due for painkillers soon. They're at the cafe, getting breakfast, I'll text Leo and tell him your awake."

"Okay," she smiles a little.

I do just that and Leo says they are on their way.

Lucy's POV

"Lucy!" Darcy runs in and hugs me gently.

"Hey Darce," I grin and hug her back.

"You gave us such a scare!" Leo kisses my cheek and wraps his arms around me.
