After dinner, I wash up and surprisingly, Darcy comes in and willingly helps me.

"So, why are you drying up with me and not doing something more fun before bed, eh?" I chuckle, stacking plates.

She frowns and shrugs her shoulders. "Lucy seems really quiet, I dunno, but she seemed jumpy and off

I stop rinsing the dishes and focus my attention on her. "When, baby girl?"

"When Luke picked us up after school."

"Have you tried talking to her?" I tuck a loose blonde curl behind her ear.

"She won't listen to me," she says quietly, avoiding my gaze and fixates on drying the plates.

I sigh, they're sisters, of course they won't always listen to one another, but I am slightly perplexed at Darcy's deep concern. Maybe something is wrong with my youngest sibling.

"What is she doing right now? Do you want to go get her for me while I finish clearing up?"

She shakes her head, "Lucy won't come down. She's up to her eyes in homework, she got loads in history."

I frown in disbelief, "that's not right, I thought homework was minimal on the first day. Don't you have history homework then, too?"

"No, I had a geography lesson, while she had history."

"I see," I nod and can see Darcy wants to say more. "Spill, baby."

She sighs, "she was fine at lunch, and then I went to my geography class and she went to history. But, when we met up in Luke's car after school; she looked really shaken but tried not to look shaken, if you get what I mean?" Darcy turns to me and her gorgeous blue eyes are looking into mine, searching for reassurance and help.

"Really? Did Luke notice?" I gently find her hands and bring her closer to me.

"Luke didn't notice," she shakes her head and leans her body against me.

"I'll go talk to her, and make sure she's okay," I wrap my arms around her and rub her back.

"Please," Darcy hugs my waist. "She won't tell me, and I know something is wrong, I just know it."

"It's ok, baby girl," I plant a kiss on her head.

"Sibling love, awh, could it get any cuter?" Tom interrupts the silence, laughing, as he comes into the kitchen.

"Shut it," I say, raising my head, smiling at my younger brother. Darcy holds me tighter, not coming out of our hug anytime soon.

"What's wrong with Darcy moo?" Tom says, coming over. "You want a hug, too?" She nods against my chest and turns around from my hold and hugs Tom instead.

Tom looks at me, confused, Darcy's not always this cuddly. I shrug and mouth "tell you later," he nods in response.

"Wanna finish that movie we were watching the other day?" Tom says, caressing her curls.

"Yeah," she nods.

"Darcy, its your bedtime in half an hour okay?" I say as Tom takes her hand to go watch the film.

I finish clearing up and then go up the stairs to find Lucy.

"Luce, you ok?" I go into the room and see her working hard at her desk, surrounded by books and paper. "You're working very hard, sweetie."

"I'm fine," she mumbles, and stifles a yawn which doesn't go unnoticed by me, completely immersed in her study.

"That's math, Darcy said you had loads of history homework?" I peer over her shoulder. "Wait, how comes this is eighth grade maths?" I sit down on the chair next to her.
