CHAPTER ONE: A BIRTHDAY TO REMEMBER
Paige's POV
Tonight is going to be the best night ever!!! Sydney my awesmazing best friend invited me over for a sleepover tonight to celebrate her Turning six last week and me turning six next week. Our parents have been friends since high school so we've been celebrating our birthdays together for our whole lives. I thought that things would change when we started going to school but I guess best friends do always stick together.
On the way there my mom started listing all of the usual rules: no scary movies, no scary games, no staying up all night, no leaving the house blah blah blah. "Mom you've only told me these 6 times I complained, I don't need to hear them again." Her reply was the same as always, "but sweetheart I don't want you to forget. These rules are very important."
About five minutes later, we pulled into Sydney's driveway. I was so excited I couldn't stop smiling as I lugged my suitcase out of the trunk and up the sidewalk which led to the house. I even loved the sound my suitcase wheels made as they went over the lumpy cobble stones! Clink! Clunk! Clink! My mom ran ahead to open the door for me. We trudged through the hallway to the first room on the left (the kitchen) where Sydney and her mom Jane were eating dinner. Instead of squealing like we usually did Sydney and I just stared at each other. Tonight we were going to do something extremely dangerous that broke a rule and if we got caught The consequence would be worse than death. We wouldn't be allowed to see each other! It may not sound bad but to us it would literally be the end of the world.
After Sydney finished her super messy sloppy joe we went upstairs to go over the plan for the night while our parents chatted their heads off downstairs. As much as I love Jane and my own mother they can get extremely annoying when they're together. "Paige.... Paige..... Paige." It was Sydney and it sounded like she had something important to tell me but I couldn't seem to focus something was whirling inside me and I didn't like the feeling of it.
