Is This Love?

It was a quiet night once my parents came home. Jessica and I would sleep across from each other in separate rooms which I was gratefully for. Once I knew for sure my parents and Jessica were asleep, I would stay up as long as I could listing to my music or playing my Gameboy. But tonight was different.

" Haru. Are you awake?" I felt a cold hand shake my arm lightly. I knew exactly who it was, but I didn't move. I pretended to be asleep and gave a light snore. Just when I thought I was in the clear, a pair of arms wrapped around my small waist. I open my eyes slightly.

It was dark so I knew she couldn't see me open my eyes. After a couple minutes, I felt Jessica's legs tangle in mine, her head resting on my shoulder. " I'm sorry."

My whole body froze. 'D-did she just apologize?' I think to myself. Another silence was drawn out, almost seeming like forever. I felt a kiss being planted on my shoulder. A warm feeling rose in my chest at the sudden kiss.

As morning came, my mom had woke us up with a smile. I look at her and smile before rubbing my eyes. " Why are you so happy mom?" My mom pulled me in her lap and kissed my forehead. " We are going to the beach today!" She wrapped me in a warm hug and set me back on the bed. "Wake up your sister and tell her to get ready. I'm going to head up to the store and get some ice and snackes."

I watch my mom leave the room as my smile fades. I get up off the bed and walk into Jessica's room. I see her sound asleep with the blanket pulled up to her chin. Her light snores echoing in the room. I hesitantly walk to the bed and shake her arm. She didn't move. I move closer and shake her again. This time I earn a groan.

" what the hell do you want?" Jessica still had her eyes closed as she spoke. I watch her carefully before speaking. " Mom wanted me to wake you up. She said we are going to the beach." Jessica opened her eyes and stared at me. " The beach?" I nod and step back as Jessica sat up and stretched. " Go get my bathing suit from the back room." I hesitate as she looks back at me " Well? What are you waiting for?"

I knew what would happen if I opened my mouth,  but the way words just slipped out. " Why don't you get it?" I cover my mouth as I realize just what I had said. I didn't take long before Jessica was up at of bed, with her fingers wrapped in my hair.

" Well, look who learned how to use their tounge." I close my eyes and put my hands on her arm, as she opened my mouth and grabbed my tounge. Digging her nails in to my tounge she laughed as I squirmed and tried to speak, tears streaming down my cheeks. A new taste took over my taste buds. It was a bold taste, almost like the taste of iron. As she held my tounge, blood dripped down onto my lips and on to my chin.

" You ever dare to open your mouth and speak like that to me again, I will rip out that pretty little tounge of yours. Understand?" I nod and fall to my knees as she let's me go and walks out of the room. I cover my mouth and wrap my arm around myself as I fell a warm liquid run across my fingers. Once the pain had ceased a little, I walk into the bathroom and open my mouth slowly. Tears took over my eyes as I look in the mirror and see a hole near the tip of my tounge.
