The Unknown Mate

Chapter 2

*flashback 5 years ago*

My dad had come home late tonight which was weird he never came home late. He was carrying a huge duffel bag, I was curious to what was in it. It was a big as me and I'm really tall for my age.

My dad left his duffel bag downstairs that night. So I went downstairs to investigate what was in it. I quietly started going down the stairs one by one. I grew more scared that my dad would catch me stalking downstairs. I finally made it downstairs, slowly but cautiously I made it to the front room. I quickly made my way to the bag.

I pull the zipper down quietly, trying to make no noise. But when I open the bag my mouth drops open. In the bag was guns, wooden bullets, knifes, bow and arrow. There was a book, I grabbed it and sat on the couch getting comfortable.

I open the book and am surprised at what I see. The book is about werewolves I don't have a clue why my father would have a book like this. I was scanning through the book, and noticed something about me and being in a pack. I read all the meanings of a pack, alpha and beta. In that page there was a picture of me with two older men and a woman. They looked through
like me a lot, the only thing was though there were werewolves.

*End of flashback*

I was currently sitting in the room they provided me. It was a white room with a bed side chest, little chest of drawers a queen size bed and a bathroom attached. All the furniture is white with diamond handles. The queen size bed was amazing with 4 posts and a net. The bed covers were a golden white style it was like an old fashion type.

I heard a knock at the door and heard someone come in. They sat next to me because I felt the bed dip.

"Hey I'm Kyle" a man voice said

I look over to see a beautiful face with dark chocolate brown hair and blue eyes. He reminded me of the man that brought me here.

"Hi I'm Thea", I replied.

"Yeah I know, word gets around quickly", he smiles at me.

"Oh really", I say quickly and look down.

"Yeah so I guess my brother has spoken to you", I looked up at him confused.

"Alpha Gabriel, he's the man that found you by the lake", realization hit me.

"Oh he's the big bad Alpha then", he smiles at me.

"Yeah he is", he gently answers.

"Is there any reason why he's constantly looking upset and damaged?" he gives me a small smile.

"There is a reason, but you didn't hear this from me okay" I quickly nod.

"Well when we were children me and Gabriel, around about when Gabriel was 7 and I was 6, our dad was taking us to the neighbours pack for a meeting. Me and Gabriel were playing with children outside, when suddenly Gabriel's eye turns to his wolf's eyes. I knew that his mate was here but it was weird we don't find our mates until we're 18 so Gabriel found his 10 years early which is rare. Gabriel start walking towards the house before you know it the place lit up in flames. Gabriel's mate was in that house so was our dad", he look down sad.

"My uncle took over pack until Gabriel was of age. But he's never been the same ever since that day. Which is upsetting because I want my brother back", as he finishes tears slip down his cheeks.

"How did the fire start?", I ask suddenly curious.

"Hunters, they've have existed as long as us. They hunt packs with wooden bullets, knifes and other things on top. They try to take packs down, before you ask why. Tribes/packs had a rules we had to follow them and not break them they were set by the humans which are hunters. The packs over a hundred years ago broke them, it was more about how much land we could have and hunting. So ever since then hunters have been trying to take packs down. They always go for the alpha for the first kill then the rest of the pack. The alpha will always protect his mate, pups and pack before him", I was shocked by all this new information.

"Just one more question sorry for being a pain, but how do you know you've found your mate?", I ask.

Kyle sat there for a minute breathing slowly.

"Your mate is your other half, your soul mate. If they die, you die because you can't live without them. A male wolf will find his mate when he turns 16. Our wolf can sense their mate, when we find them you instantly fall in love with them. As soon as you make eye contact you feel as if you are the only two in the room. When you touch them you feel tingles, and you also feel a pull towards them. The thing about mates is that you only get one" ,he explained.

I sat there in shock, I couldn't believe what I was hearing. They only get one, so that means Gabriel lost his and is slowly dying. Does that mean I will get a mate. I did want it to be Gabriel, it was because of the pull I feel towards but he can't have another mate. I can't understand why I feel what I do towards him. I'm starting to question my whole life now. Suddenly my vision starts to darken until I fall unconscious.

*Flashback when she was 5*

"Daddy push higher, higher", I shout at him.

"I'm not pushing you that high princess you might hurt yourself. We can't have that can we", Daddy says.

"No we can't", I carefully reply.

When the swing slows down, I get off and laid down on the grass. Daddy also lays down next me with a smile on his face.

"Daddy?", I question.

"Yes Princess", he replies.

"What are mates?", I innocently ask.

"Well Princess, mates are special. Your mummy and me are mates. It's when a boy turns 16, his wolf is ready for his mate. The wolf guides you to your mate, when you find them you instantly fall in love with them. You feel sparks, tingles and a pull towards them".

"Daddy, will I have a mate?", I softly question.

"Yes you will Princess, that means you have to live with them and leave daddy", he has a small sad smile on his face

"I don't want to leave you daddy" ,I cry.

"Princess I will always be here for you, I'm never leaving", he gently explains to me.

"Promise me daddy", I say with tears running down my cheeks.

''I promise my beautiful Princess'', daddy gently replies.

"Dinners ready guys", mummy shouts to me and daddy.

Daddy and I get up and walk towards my mummy. I look between mummy and daddy to see them smiling at each other and daddy winks at mummy. She starts giggling, my daddy leans and kisses mummy on the lips. I giggle at them.

"I love you mummy and daddy. Don't leave me please", I say.

"We won't princess and we love you too Princess", they say together.

*End of flashback*

Suddenly my body jolts awake and I'm hit the sudden realization.

"Oh my gosh........"
