1987.The most terrifying and unforgettable year known to human. I was only 7 years old at the time.

It's been 9 years now. Let me tell you how it started.

It was the year all supernatural which was known to be a fairy tale was discovered: werewolves, vampires,witches,fairies,elves and mermaids.

They overpowered us humans in what we call 'the bloody war'. Because of that war I lost my father and my older brother.

After the war ended our life turned more like hell. Humans having to work day and night with barely enough money to keep us alive.

But even though we get slaved everyday,starved and broken, heard the news our family was dead. Nothing could be more terrifying then the "mate ball".

All the supernatural had this thing called a 'mate'. Once the supernatural finds their mate, it can be either human or another supernatural, they take them with them to bite and mate with them to create kids (if you can even call them that).

I still remember when one of my best friends were mated to a vampire. He was so terrifying! He just grabbed her and bit her with force causing her to black out.

How cruel is that! To attend the ball you must be 16 years and older.

My mother had to go. The supernatural council declared even human married women will go every year even if they don't find their soul-mate.

There is only one way to escape. You need to have a mate. Running would get you no where. My name is Lilly collins I'm turning 16 in 4 days. Wish me luck...to NOT find a mate.! Oh and if you didn't understand I'm just a average human...well as 'average' as it gets.
