DAVE'S POV

Maybe he should show other people this rap, definitely not Terezi... maybe Rose or some shi-

"Wow, you've been here all day?" Someone's crowed.

"Gah-" the blonde jumped up quickly shoving the stack of papers I his sylladex. There was no fucking way this was happening right now.

"Dude-you scared the metaphorical shit out of me," he blurted shoving the paper in his pocket. His sylladex was full.

Karkat eyed him, giving him a strange look. Glancing at the paper then back at Dave. Fuck.

He walked over going the quick route. Around the Cantopia.

"What do you have in your pant pocket there hmmm?" He asked in a suspicious tone. His eyebrows attempting to lift, but still ended up looking angry. His frown shaped into a grimace.

"Its nothing- just paper. What's it to yah?" He questioned back. As the troll growled slightly. Dave trying to stay calm and collected. And he managed it well.

"Nothing- just you being a jumpy wriggler about it," he said. After a couple of seconds of silence Karkat quickly reached out to grab it.

The blonde traveled backwards a step, forearm out to block him.

The Cancer's face twisted into a knot of annoyance,

"Are you fucking serious?! It's just a stupid piece of paper, why can't you show me the 'ellusive' sheet of probably just another bunch of 'fan-fucking-tastic' drawings?" He griped. Crossing his arms, legs shuffling together tightly.

God. He was as- and probably more nosey than John,

"Precisely- just that. You happy now?" He asked just annoying the troll further. Which put a small smirk on his face.

"Grrrmmmmmmm well if it's just that why won't you let me peer at your typical carefree screw ups in the fine arts??!"

"Why do you want to see it so bad- it's just-" he was cut off by feeling the sheet being kidnapped from his pocket, he patted his pocket and saw the small caprician run off with it.

"Mayor- give it back," he shouted after him, trying to grab him- but he was gone. Dancing about the Cantown streets to get away. He attempted to follow. Not doing it as graciously as he tiptoed around.

KARKAT'S POV

He watched the Mayor take the paper away the Strider's almost sluggish focus. Ha! Serves him right. He laughed as the human was practically jumping through hoops to get it back.

Which was odd. Normally he wouldn't care if anyone took something from his pockets. Especially Mayor. So he decided it was important. He went to go help get it back, thinking maybe if he got it first he could read it. But he didn't do much-needed as the Mayor came right too him, handing him the now slightly bent and crumpled paper.

He sees Dave freeze in his spot. Knowing he had lost. He looked at the paper just a quick look,

"Is this a pathetic excuse for a love letter?" He asked with a teasing glance.

"No you horses ass its a rap," He replied, sounding strained, you better be scared Strider I am you LEADER. BOW DOWN TO MY GREATNESS- I have a sheet of fucking paper and he's acting like it's going to kill his lusus.

Which is a stupid assumption really. Cause his human lusus is dead.

He now actually looked at the paper. It was written in slanted, surprisingly audible handwriting. The page looked as if it had tens of hundreds of words. But only the beginning was eligible enough to read. It seemed to have a rhyme scheme. He read:

Got a lot on my mind
Gotta a lot to chime thought rhyme if you could find the time
To listen
Back on the lohac was when the knight was truly sublime
And I'm
Trying to come clean
Around you it's seems I can't dream to glean the words that I wanna scream
And I don't mean to cause a scene
I just wanna make my words
Crystalline
Got my heart on unforseen
Quarantine
And your smile sets it ablaze like
Kerosene
For you these words are sincere
And they leer and jeer me with the shear fear that you'll over hear me and
react severely
Cause it don't take no seer to see that I want you near me
Even if you don't adhere to me.
But don't let that interfere with us. Cause my greatest fear is that you'll disappear.

Karkat clutched the paper, reading it. He realized he was correct. It was some sort of slam poetry confession kinda thing. He couldn't read the rest because it was scribbled out and smudged.

"It fucking great," he ahemed, "For human standards...."

"Wow thanks," he retorted. Still looking slightly nervous. Strider? Nervous? He couldn't believe it either.

"Who's it for? Cause I totally could have helped you proof read this," he said, trying to stay normal. He felt grim. He knew it was for Terezi. And she'd love it. So he'd help. Begrudgingly. Even though it stung.

"You...don't know who it's for..?" He said unsure if he was being serious. He facepalmed.

"I have an idea- because I know about your stupid pact you have with Pyrope," he said. Not wanting to come off aggressive but did. He felt strongly about it.

Dave looked at him for a long time. And it felt like he was glaring at him. Those red eyes probably filled with disgust as he points him out. He could feel it.

And yet he was still impossible to read.

But he didn't retort. Or say, 'Yeah you got me there Karkat,' No he was silent until he said.

"You watch so many godamn romcoms and yet, your still fucking clueless," he remarked. He didn't know what he meant by that at all. Until he grabbed Karkat's wrist. His arm going in between his shoulder blades pulling him quickly to him and pressed his lips against his.

DAVE'S POV

"You watch so many godamn romcoms and yet, your still fucking clueless," he muttered to him. And he went with what his instincts told him to.

He didn't know what, or when it happened. But here he was. Kissing the Cancer. And he wasn't going to lie. He was enjoying it.
