I had care of magical creatures with Hagrid. It wasn't my worst subject but it definitely wasn't my best either. The worst part about it was that we had it with Gryffindor, and being friends with Draco Malfoy meant that he always seemed to wind Harry up.
Not to mention I'm quite nice for a Slytherin, I really didn't enjoy being mean to people and my parents tried to force their prejudice views onto me but it didn't work.
I've been lifetime friends with Draco, he's a very dear friend to me and we share a close bond. But a few times I have scolded him for being nasty to Potter, I just don't think it's right.

We head to the Forrest, Draco walking beside me. He was rambling on about something, I wasn't listening as usual. Apparently Hagrid had a surprise for us.
"I can't believe they're letting that oaf teach us, wait until my father hears about this" Draco spat, as Crabbe and Goyle laughed with him. I rolled my eyes at his comment, not meaning for him to catch it but he did; "what was the eye roll for (Y/N)?" Draco asked, rather sarcastically.

I didn't respond. Lately I couldn't deal with his shit, he was more rude and obnoxious than usual, I looked at the scenery around me rather than at him.

"Hey (Y/N)" smiled Harry as he walked past.
"Hi Harry" I smiled back, unlike Draco. I liked Harry.

Draco glared at me with disgust, he didn't like it when I talked to "the enemy". But I never let him control me, I didn't see the problem.
We were waiting for Hagrid, figuring out how to open the monster book and it was rather amusing watching Neville fight with it on the floor.
"I think they're funny" said Hermione, who clearly wasn't speaking to Draco.

"Oh yeah, terribly funny" replied Draco, words pouring with sarcasm.
"Draco, stop please. There's no need of this" I scolded him.
"Don't stick up for the Mudblood! You should know better (Y/N)" Draco spat.

"Shut up Malfoy!" Harry shouted, walking closer to us. Draco, Crabbe and Goyle  taunting him by saying "ooh" which I didn't join in on, giving him a rather disgusted glare.

Draco got closer to Harry, he stared into the forest and shouted "Dementor! Dementor!". Harry whipped his head around, but there was obviously no Dementors. The three of them bursted into laughter, raising their hoods up.
I was rather embarrassed to be associated with them, Harry had been through a lot and they weren't making his life any easier.

"Bloody hell (Y/N) what's wrong with you today" commented Draco, sensing my discomfort.
"Nothing, just disappointed that you'd treat someone like that" I replied, with a face of sadness.

He gave me one look in the eyes, but turned away. His eyes were soft until they focused on anything else but me, he knew he'd been an arse. He felt extremely guilty but I wasn't going to let him get away with it.
"It's just a joke, can't say anything to your precious Potter" snapped Draco, his eyes were now full of hatred. He'd never looked at me in such a way before.

"Draco, I just don't like it when you torment him. It's not a good look on you" I replied calmly, trying not to let it get to me.
"I don't care (Y/N), why would I care what others think of me? You seem to judge me more than anyone else, you're supposed to be my best friend but yet you don't take my side when Potter and I have a dispute" Draco ranted, his words hurt.

"Unlike Goyle and Crabbe, I can actually stand up for myself. I don't agree with everything you say and sorry Draco that's just not how it's going to be" I stated firmly. His face was full of anger, but I had walked away before he could say anything more.

"A'right, t'day I got a surprise for yer'" Hagrid said, bringing out a hippogriff "his name is Buckbeak". Of course Harry went first, he was very good with animals. I was amazed at Buckbeak's taking to Harry.
When Harry returned with Buckbeak, Draco had to involve himself in the situation.
"Yeah not dangerous at all are you, you great ugly brute" he said, getting closer to Buckbeak. The hippogriff was getting startled by Draco's sudden move but Draco didn't back down.

The hippogriff all of the sudden hit Draco's arm, it looked nasty but he quite deserved it.
"Ah it's killed me!" Shouted Draco, I rolled my eyes. That poor hippogriff looked so distraught.

"(L/N)! Take Malfoy to Madame Pomfrey" ordered Hagrid, who was also scared to death. Great. I huffed under my breath and helped up Draco. Holding him so he doesn't fall.
As we got closer to the school Draco rambled on about that "chicken" and how he was going to get his father to kill it. I didn't respond, I was extremely pissed off that I had to have him so close to me.

"We've never been so close" winked Draco, I again didn't respond. "What's wrong with you?" Asked a very angry Draco.

"I'm hurt. I'm hurt you basically said I never have your back" I said, as my voice started to crack.
"(Y/N), you know I didn't mean that. I- I just don't want Potter taking away the closest friend I have" explained Draco.

I sighed. "Draco, I'm not going to leave you. I just don't enjoy making people's lives a misery" I stated, looking into his lovely silver eyes.

"I know. I'm sorry I really am. I let the jealousy get the best of me" Draco sighed as we walked up to the huge wooden door.

"Jealousy? What have you got to be jealous of?" I asked curiously.
"You're just so beautiful and everything anyone could ever want... I-" I cut him off before he could say anymore, kissing his soft lips. I pulled away, looking into his eyes again.

"Will you be my girlfriend?" Draco smiled.
"Yes" I nodded, blushing slightly.

"Come on let's get you to the hospital wing" I laughed, holding him closer to me.
"I hate that bloody chicken" Draco replied, reminding him of the events that just happened.

"You're so idiotic Malfoy" I giggled, shaking my head.
