New kid Pt.1 (Maine x reader)

This story is for a female reader

Today was Y/N 's first day with these so called 'freelancers'. She didn't really know what to think. As she wondered the halls, the girl was so caught up in thinking that she ran into someone much taller. "S-sorry.." Y/N replied. The girl looked up to find a massive, scarred, and quite tense freelancer in white clothing. The man grunted and glared down at Y/N. She ducked her head and moved on to the cafeteria because lunch was nearing. She saw the same freelancer once more and avoided him. After the girl ate, she decided to hang out with some of her friends outside the freelancer program. "Hey Y/N! So how was your first day?" One of the friends asked. "Er...it was pretty..okay." She stated dryly. "Oh. Well that's good." They replied. After the group talked for some good hour or so, Y/N headed on out to rest. The next day she came close to the same man. "Don't even try becoming his friend.." A voice in the back of Y/N 's head. The girl shrugged it off. "Hello." She forced out, not making eye contact. He only grunted, except this one sounded different. It sounded..a bit friendly. "Maine." He added, empty of emotion. Y/N held out her hand. "Y/N. Nice to meet you." She replied. Maine took the girl's hand in his much larger hand and gently shook. You just couldn't believe it. This man, so tall and quite good looking in your opinion, had shook your hand. You almost wanted to feel more of his gentle touch more of the time. Those quiet thoughts made you turn a light red. "You okay.." He asked blankly. "O-oh yeah. I'm fine." She stuttered out. "Let's go eat breakfast. Um..if you want." The girl added. Maine just chuckled quietly, although Y/N had heard it. The two walked down the hall to the cafeteria to eat breakfast Maine had finally felt as if someone might not have been terrified of him. Oh but you were.
