We're coming for you, the waves hissed. They spoke in tongues, pushed her down and grabbed her feet with their furious currents. Bubbles floated to the surface, Amphitrite's last breath of air dissolved into the salty ocean water. The goddess of the sea was battling against her own element. She was ruthlessly being drowned, an ironic, yet cruel, move by Poseidon. He, her lover, turned into her captor. Now, Poseidon was in the process of becoming her murder.Amphitrite's children were nowhere to be seen, she was alone. Poseidon's rule over the seas of Earth were way stronger than hers ever were. Amphitrite's limbs grew weaker with every current that pulled her down, darkness and haziness creeped upon her ever so slightly.
"Please, let me go." She spoke the language of the sea, with her last words she pleaded. "My children will feel the wrath of Poseidon without me. They need to be protected. They do so much for you. Please, let me protect my children. Please, let me go."
CHALKIDIKI, GREECE.
The sun was a ruthless enemy to those who came unprepared; and so was Leda Demopoulos. She was a winner, her skills at beach volleyball were unmatched. Not even the harsh rays of the sun could get her to loose a game. Every guy that decided to try to beat her was proven wrong. Fast. Today wasn't very different.
"Suck a cock, Leda." Dimitris threw the ball to the sand roughly, causing a cloud in the shape of a mushroom to appear in Leda's feet. He picked up his towel to dry the sweat trickling off his forehead. His friends were in the sidelines, laughing, cheering for the girl who kicked their friend's ass at volleyball.
"Preferably mine," a bold one spoke up, the rest of them whistled around him. He was tall, dark-skinned, undeniably attractive, even Leda agreed. However, he wasn't exactly her type.
"I'm a lesbian." She quickly shot him down. Leda expected more of a reaction out of the boys, some disappointment even. However, they just looked behind her, with their jaws dropped and eyes bulging out of their heads. One pointed to something behind her, so Leda turned around.
A queen stripped of her crown. Only wearing the salt on her skin, the sand between her toes, the sea weed clinging to her hips. Water dripped down her bare breasts, bruises wrapped around her neck. A reminder.
A naked woman laid on the beach, unconscious. The stranger thing was the waves hitting the shore, they circled around her, not daring to touch her skin. It was almost as if she would dry them right up.
The guys all just sat there, starring at the woman in obvious need of help. They were scared, maybe. Leda wasn't.
She ran to her, as quickly as one can run in the scalding sand barefoot. Leda kneeled next to the unknown woman, the waves still circled around both of them.
Leda shook the girl's arm and moved strands of her wet, salt infused hair out of her face. She wouldn't wake up, so she tried again. And again.
On the third try, like clockwork, the unconscious woman opened her eyes, revealing blue. The same color as the beautiful ocean waves.
"Miss, are you okay?" Leda asked, concern evident in the way her eyebrows scrunched together. The woman nodded weakly. "What's your name?"
"Amphitrite."
"Like the goddess." Leda noted, preparing the next series of questions in her mind, like flash cards awaiting to be answered. What happened? Why was Amphitrite naked? Did someone hurt her? Why did she have bruises around her neck. She didn't get to any of them, though.
"No, I am the goddess."
