Chapter 7

~Maddie's POV~

"Come on Lucas, wake up I have a surprise for you" I'm smiling from cheek to cheek.

Lucas looks at me with droopy eyes and a frown on his face. 

"what's the surprise?"

"just come with me"

I grab his crutches and help him up I help him down the stairs and into the living room. there on the couch was a brown box with holes on the sides. Lucas looks over at me with an eyebrow raised. 

"well, go on open it" I smile at him

he sits down on the couch and opens the box slowly. a small black pug jumps out of the box and into his arms. a huge smile appears on his face as the pug licks his face. He looks over at me

"is he mine?" he asked me

"yep, I went to the shelter while you were asleep and rescued him for you" I smiled.

he puts the pug down and limps over to me.

"thank you" 

he hugs me tightly and I hug him back even tighter. the feeling of safety rushes through me. We don't let go of eachother for a whole few seconds until  he looks down at me. 

"what should we name him?" he looks over at the pug and glares at him for a while

"what about Jake?" he turns back at me with a smile

I smile "i love that name" 

"Jake it is then"

he limps back to the small pug and picks him up he starts talking in a baby voice

"yeah, Jake? whats that? you like that name?" he kisses him on the nose and then puts on a confused face and his voice back to normal. He put his ear to Jake's mouth and started nodding his head

"huh? mhm? okay. okay" he smiles at Jake and turns his head to me

"Jake says he's sorry about the accident and that you look better than ever." 

I felt myself blush up and smiled at the ground

"well. tell jake that he's just as handsome" I look up and move towards Lucas. I look up at him and take Jake in my hands and give him a big kiss on his head.

"ah hell no" Lucas yells

"what is it? isn't he a handsome pug?" I smile.

"stop teasing me like that?" Lucas pouted. 

"I'm not" I grin

"oh really?" Lucas gives me a grin and he takes the pug from me and sets him down

he places his hand on my cheek and I look up at him. Lucas gets closer to me and I do the same. He then smiles viciously and starts tickling me as much as he could. I burst into laughter and run away. Lucas grabs his crutches and limps after me.

"come back here" he sang.

I run into the kitchen and into the walk through pantry. I hear his crutches walking past the hallway and I run down the pantry and out the other side and I run behind him. I jump behind the couch and cover my mouth from leaving

"where'd you go?" he looks around and Jake walks up to me and starts yapping at me I whisper a shush to him. I hear Lucas limping up to the couch right where  I was standing.

"where is she Jake? she's here?" he looks over the couch and I pop up attempting to run away when Lucas manages to drop his crutches and grab me from behind.  When Christina comes through the door. 

He immediately lets go of me and picks his crutches back up and walks over to her. 

"hey mom" he smiles at her and gives her a big hug.

"hey sweetheart. hey Maddie, what are you two up to."

"oh just a bit of a game of tag" I smile

"Tag? how is Lucas able to run after you" she tilts her head a bit

I laugh a bit "i'm not really running more like speed walking" and put on a big grin.

"ohhh I see" she laughs.

"well I brought dinner" she puts a bag over on the ktchen island and reveals Mcdonalds. my eyes widen and look over at Christina.

"is there poutine in there?" I point at the bag of Mcdonalds

"of course there is" I run to the bag and pull out a small box of poutine"

"thank you?" I gasp.

Lucas grabs his food and we all sit down at the table eating slilently.

I look over at Lucas 

"where's your dad?" 

he swallows his food and looks over at me

"he's uh dead." He looks back at his food

"oh i'm so sorry I didn't mean to be rude" I eat more of my food in silent trying not to make another word. 

why did I have to ask that so abruptly. and in front of his mom. god sometimes i'm so stupid. god I hope he's not mad at me.

~Okay guys :) here's this weeks chapter. sorry I posted it a bit early I just really wanted to make up for the big break I did so I give you guys more to read. even made it a bit longer for all of you :) once again i'll post next Thursday~
