Monday
I smiled as I walked into the dinining room.
"Ammamih,I'm not waking Nailah ever again. She bit me"Jamal complained
"Nailah"Ammamih called as she pass the flask to me.
"I was tired,I'm sorry but look in the bright side.I prayed fajr and got dressed on time"I said softly
"Yeah little princess"Salim said coming out of the kitchen and I rolled my eyes
"You guys should do and go back to school"I said
"Kamal!"Ammamih called
"He is sleeping"Jamal said.
Ammamih was about to go wake him when he appeared.
"Morning everyone"kamal greeted
After breakfast,Ammamih called me to her room.
"Naam (yes)"I said walking in
She hands me a bag,when I opened it my eyes widened
It's a new glass case and a new glass.
"My new glasses came?really?"I asked excitedly
"Yes,your Aunty Asiya sent it.it came yesterday"Ammamih replied
Aunty Asiya is her best friend back in kaduna. She is a doctor,when I went to kaduna I got my first set of glasses in the hospital she works in.
"Yay!tank her for me that she's the best"I said hugging Ammamih
"Hope you studied well?"she asked
"Yes,I will make you proud"I replied letting go
"Write your exams well"she said with a smile
"Ok,Ammamih.see you later"I assured with a smile
I left to the bus stop,the bus already arrived.I got in greeted Mr Tyler and I sat next to Halima.
"Hey"she greeted
"Hi,hope you studied?"I greeted then asked
"Sure I did"she assured
"I wish us the best"I said
"Same"she said with her dimpled smile
We got back to reading our notes.
We got mathematics,chemistry and Islamic studies today.
Due to us being in final year.our break is just one week unlike the rest of the school.
"Guess what girls?"Firdaus asked as we stepped into the school building,she was standing there with a note.
"Exams have been cancelled? "I asked happily
"No silly,our Chemistry teacher is getting married next week and we are all invited"she said happily
"Are you sure it wasn't one of those your dreams that seemed too real?"I asked and Halima nodded agreeing with me
She laughed at our confused faces.
"Raheem told me everything,you know his father is a teacher"she said
"Well,interesting"I said with a smile
"I know right"Halima agreed
"I am so lost with this quadratic equation word problems"Firdaus spoke sadly
"Well lucky you,Lima is your friend"I said looking at Halima and Halima smiled a sheepishly
"Where is Amira ?"I asked looking around
"In our class"Firdaus replied
You see Amira and firdaus are art students while Halima and I are science students.
After Halima explained some things to Firdaus. We left to our classes,I sat in my usual seat while Halima sat in hers.
Someone called my name and Halima said it was the English teacher and he is by the door.I got up and walked to him.
"Where is the poem I asked you to write"he asked
"Oh no,I forgot.by tomorrow I promise"I said nervously
"Alright then.good luck with your exams"he said with a smile
"Thank you Mr Lawal"I said then I got back to my seat.
The day went on with one hour interval before each paper.we got to revise our notes.
After school everyone tiredly went home.Amira followed me though cause we want to compose the poem together.
We settled in my room,prayed Asr. I fetched some food for us and we began exchanging ideas.
There was a knock on the door
"Come in"I said
"Amira,I got some fruits for you"Ammamih said handing a small bowl to Amira.
"Thank you"she smiled saying thank you
"I told Salim to bring it and he suddenly has a headache"Ammamih puzzled and Amira smiled shyly
"I leave you two"she added walking out
Hmmm something seems fishy
Amira is shy of Salim and Salim doesn't want to meet her.
I smell fish
