After being bit, Harvey was quickly preparing. Although his arm was a huge problem, He managed to set out some dry cat food and some water for Carter, and ended up locking himself in a room with a small amount of food and water.
He waited an hour. Hours passed by, and then days, and a whole week went by. He came to the conclusion that maybe... Maybe he was lucky?
He unlocked his room and left, and was greeted by a large number of meows from Carter. He placed some more food and water in his bowl and then opened a can of beans and quickly finished it, along with half a bottle of water.
He checked his food supply. The he had enough food for about 3 weeks if he used it sparingly, but enough water for 2 weeks.
He began debating whether or not he should go outside. What if he wasn't lucky again? What if the streets were flooded with infected?
He shuddered at the thought of killing more people. Infected, yes, but still humans.
Suddenly his radio turned on. "Hello? Is anyone out here? I am George Haile. I am part of a group of 3 trying to make it to the Outpost in Stauntonville. We are currently in a barricaded gun shop on December Road.", came in a broadcast.
More survivors!, Harvey thought. December Road was close to where he was, and if his car still worked, he could make it there in no time.
He quickly searched for a bandage to cover up his cut, which had dried. If the survivors didn't trust him, they would kill him. He put on a thick jacket to hopefully guard from another bite and strapped his cooler to his duffle bag, which he carried on his back.
He almost left when he forgot that he needed to cut down a barricade. He went into the garage, grabbed a sharpened hatchet, and left the garage.
He passed by Dean's decomposing corpse and decided to grab his pocket knife which he had left there. He noticed something on his belt...
It was a revolver, and Dean's backpack contained LOTS of ammunition. He quickly took the revolver and it's holster and strapped it to his belt, and put half the ammunition in a satchel, the other half in his duffle bag.
Then he hacked down the wood guarding the basement. He cautiously peered inside, revolver out, and after confirming that no infected were inside, used electrical tape to tape a flashlight to the revolver. He turned it on and searched the basement.
He found old pictures and books, and best of all, several gas cans. He holstered his revolver, which hung awkwardly in its holster.
He shook each can. Only one of the 4 were full. He dragged them along and threw them up the ladder. He cautiously peeked over the ladder, and after seeing that the shed was empty, climbed up the ladder and busted open the door. There were 4 grey and rotted figures standing outside, clumsily wandering around. One noticed him, and alerted the others to help it, and they all rushed at him.
Harvey dropped the cans and took out his axe. "Humanity was fine without you vile creatures.", he muttered and swung the axe at the first infected. It hit his neck, causing blood to splatter everywhere. But still be ran forward. Harvey aimed another blow at the head, this time decapitating it. He hit the second about 5 times in the chest, and then in the head.
He started having problems at the third one. His arm hurt, and he had realised again that these "zombies" were just sick humans. He shook it from his mind. If they were humans, why would they try to kill anything alive?
While pondering this, the 3rd had clawed a nasty cut on his face. Harvey reacted by cutting off her arm, and then hitting her in the abdomen. She collapsed, bleeding everywhere. The 4th tried to bite him, but Harvey was quick and dashed behind her and backstabbed her with the knife.
After combat, he rushed to his driveway. The car was still there, with minimal damage. He poured the first can of gas in the tank and threw the cans in the trunk. He inserted the key into the slot and turned. The engine turned and then died. He tried again, and it turned on. He looked at the gas gauge.
It only had a little bit of gas. He turned off the car, shoved his belongings into it and shut the door, opened the trunk, took out the cans, and rushed to the nearest gas station. Several zombies chased him because they had heard the engine start.
He arrived at the gas station, took out his revolver, and fired all 6 shots at the small horde chasing him. 4 of them fell, a puddle of blood forming under each. There were 4 more left. He quickly reloaded the revolver, taking 6 rounds from his satchel, loading them into each slot, and clicking the cylinder back in. He fired 4 of the shots. This time he was lucky, all of them died, but the gunshots was sure to attract a horde. He rushed into the gas station building, looted it of food and water, and went to the cash register. He couldn't help but take some money as he found the button to turn on the pumps. He was about to leave the store when he heard a woman say, "Hello?"
Harvey turned around, startled. The woman was short, with long brown hair put into a ponytail. She was wearing a tank top with no visible bites or cuts. "Who are you?", she asked.
"The name's Harvey. I'm trying to fuel my car to pick up some survivors who sent a radio broadcast, they are at December Road.
Her eyes lit up. "I know them. We got split up after a horde came after us. I took our car as close to The Outpost as a could. I ended up here. Wait... How many people did they say were with them?"
Harvey told her that there were 3 and asked what the outpost was. "They must all still be alive. And the outpost? After the first week, rumor has it that in Stauntonville, a large group of survivors has built an impenetrable fortress. They call it the Outpost. Oh, and by the way, the name's Danielle."
