Marcus' body jerked and his muscles contracted setting a slight flutter in Kayden's chest. Was he waking up? That can't be. Where is David? Kayden's mind wondered. The short, multicolor haired woman felt the eyes of Vivian on her. As if burning a hole into her temple.
Icy blue eyes flicked from a now still Marcus and up to meet Vivian. Her face was covered by a shadow casted from her cloaks hood. Just her pink lips and her unreadable glow of her crimson eyes that seemed to pull Kayden into her own trance. Shaking her head Kayden pulled her attention to the sudden beeps of monitors by Marcus' beside.
Kayden went to rush to Marcus. The noise meant something was wrong. He was dying as Vivian had said. A hand darted to Kayden's bicep to stop her and Vivian's voice entered her mind. We are only spectators at this point. You are but a ghost to human world. Nothing you do right now will effect the out come. The muscles of Kayden's arm tightened and a tick worked in her jaw as her gaze stared at the monitors. At Marcus' skin that seemed to become blotchy and swell as each second the second hand of the room clock ticked.
The bedroom door slammed open and on paraded a group of nurses with a crash cart. As the nurses began quickly setting things up, the lead nurse barked orders. Kayden hoped Vivian was wrong. Glancing back at Vivian she wondered what the woman was thinking. The nurses where only able to place a mask over Marcus face to use a weird bag to push air into his lungs and do chest compressions. Dr. Ralph had rushed through the doors and his voice boomed across the room demanding for them to stop.
He went on to explain how David had signed papers stating that if something happened no one was supposed to resuscitate Marcus. At that all nurses stopped and backed away. The lead nurse cleared her throat and the others rushed out. "Dr. Ralph.. All do respect this could be such a large lawsuit against us. Against you. The Comadylic caused heart failure in hours and an anaphylactic shock.. it hasn't even reached human trials yet. How did yo-" The lead nurse spoke in a hushed and rushed tone before Dr. Ralph hushed her and looked over at Marcus.
Was that a hint of a smile? Kayden thought in rising anger. Vivian's hand had dropped back to her side and Kayden glanced back before treading towards Dr. Ralph's side to listen closer. Though against better judgement Kayden reared back and went to land a powerful blow. Her fist phased through him and Kayden grumbled. "Fuckin bastard.."
"David signed papers and requested it against my judgement. I did as requested by the patients power of attorney. My hands were tied. Now. Call the time of death and get the paper work onto my desk by midnight." Dr. Ralph stated emotionless. His eyes flicked between the nurse and Marcus. The nurse sighed and looked up at the clock. "Yes sir. Time of death. 9:16 PM." She marked it onto a sheet on a clip board and hurried off to make contacts and process the work. Dr. Ralph waited a moment before heading to Marcus' beside tsking the dead male.
"I didn't think you would make it, my little toy.. You were as useless as those lab rats. Your boyfriend though? Well. He's gullible. Desperate and fell right into my plan. You're an organ donor and will be donating your entire body to my organization, Ralph's Treasure. Thank you for that. Your body will serve a wonderful purpose to furthering my experiments. Maybe I'll use your entrails as party supplies? In honor of you." Dr. Ralph cut off with a chuckle, running his fingers through Marcus' hair before departing. Leaving a deceased Marcus, Vivian and an infuriated Kayden.
"Fucking fuck tits! That no good, jerk faced potato wedge! I'll destroy him!" Kayden ranted frantically as more individuals piled in to take Marcus to the morgue. Kayden pulled her hair up into a bun and watched Marcus leave. Fury building inside and Kayden looked at Vivian sternly. "I'll do it. I'll kill him." Kayden all but growled causing the expressionless look of Vivian to shift her lips up into that of a smirk. "A feisty kitten you are my little witch... but caution.." Vivian warned, her voice sounding both amused and dangerous. Shifting her gaze her smile faded, turning to see what caught Vivian's attention a body pressed itself to Kayden in a deep hug.
It felt like whomever this person was, their skin was as cold as what you would expect a week in Antarctica, naked would be like. "K!? How are you here? It's so good to see you. Alive I hope?" Warmth suddenly felt as if it radiated from the points from which the skin met. That voice... Kayden took a shaky breath and moved from the individuals arms looking up to meet gorgeous green eyes, though almost translucent now. "M-Marcus?! I... how?" The short woman asked looking over at the hospital bed. The hospital bed she spent hours sitting by, listening to her friend just breath as if he was just sleeping. Watching David tear his hair out and go through mood swings, and not to mention the sleep deprivation. It was hard. She never thought she would see Marcus again like this.
So, this Marcus. The cold skinned, almost glowing version of him must be his soul. Kayden glanced up at Vivian who stood silently up until now. Her voice ringing with an authority and yet comfort. "Marcus, I am Death. I've come to bring you to the after life." Vivian's crimson eyes shone through the dark veil of her hood. Sending a chill down Kayden's spine.
Marcus nodded, taking Vivian's presence in for the first time. He took a deep breath, or.. imaginary breath? Kayden wasn't quite sure but his emerald eyes turned back to Kayden's and Marcus puts his hands on her cheeks, stepping closer. Their nose inches from each other. Though, granted he had to lean down a bit to make the distance.
" Kayden. My last request is for you to make sure David knows I forgive him for his misguided thoughts and use of that fucked up fucking prick in a lab coat. Do everything you Can to save others from this guy.. Electroshock therapy? His weird rants... I may have been comatose but-" Marcus was cut off when the door to Marcus' hospital room slammed open and a distraught David ran in, falling to his knees bawling and holding the bed sheets where Marcus' body once was. Nurses came in to pull David's hysteric self from Marcus' bedside trying to convince him to calm down. No doubt probably about to take David down to the morgue. To see the body of Marcus, closure.
Marcus watched in pain over David. His hair messy, his face red and his eyes puffy. It was clear he was in a lot of pain. His voice ringing through, begging God to bring Marcus back to life. Frustration shown in Marcus' eyes and he turned his gaze back to Kayden before he dropped his head looking down. "...I heard everything... The doctor is fucked up.. Please K.. I love you and David. Just know that..." With that he pulled a stunned and unsure Kayden into a hug before Vivian nodded silently snapping her fingers and Kayden's world flipped around. Her mind swirled and she, within moments was back in her kitchen. Alone.
"What. The. Fuck?!" Kayden said loudly. Angrily. She was livid. A doctor used David and Marcus for his sick games, Vivian wanting her to work as a hitman, her past being mentioned. Buried memories she wished would stay buried. To top it off a migraine invaded Kayden's mind. It was already going a mile a minute. She knew what she wanted, needed to do. It was calling to her. Every fiber of her being shook and she wanted Marcus to be avenged and others to be protected.
Intrails as party supplies? Fuckin weirdo. I'll paint with your blood, fucking asshole. I'll skin him.. Thoughts rushed Kayden's mind and she moved around to sit on her couch, a coffee cup in her hand. It was still warm. Curious.... Kayden dropped her head. She swore herself she would not let her past torture her future but now her past will be what brings Dr. Ralph to his end. It'll be because of Kayden's life that Dr. Ralph will die and Kayden wasn't sure if she was ready. Ready to kill again. Ready to face Vivian, David. A frustrated sigh escaped Kayden's lips and she leaned back into the couch, bringing the cup of coffee to her lips. What a fucking day. Kayden knew she had to begin planning. Prepping if she wanted to follow through with potentially murdering someone. Yet all she wanted right now? More coffee.
