she lived in a constant fear of what would happen if they ever got taken by la migra. [ICE]
her culture brought her happiness.
their music, their food, and their love made her smile.
growing up she noticed how her people were painted in a negative light.
mexicans are wrongfully painted as rapists, drug dealers, gang members etc.
she thought that it wasn't fair how they never mentioned the good that Mexicans did.
instead they were thought of as villains to American society.
and that made her ashamed to be American.
