Matthew knew that it was a mistake to end things with you. He thought that he needed space, he thought that you we're uninterested in him, so he broke it off. When you moved back to New York he was miserable, devastated, so many things. But he knew that he had to move on. The break up was to harsh and you would never get back with him, he would think. He loved you more than words could explain, but what he couldn't explain is why he actually did break things off. But now he knows that because his heart is filled with regret and sorrow, he can't move on.
