"I'll see you soon kitten, promise..." Frank said, kissing Gerard's forehead. Gerard smiled back in return. "Mhm, okay daddy. I'll be good." "I know you will." Frank gave Gerard a soft kiss before opening the front door. "Daddy?" "Yes baby?" Frank replied, looking down at Gerard. "I love you." Frank smiled. "I love you too. Always will."
Gerard was curled up on his bed, his face buried in his knees and his arms wrapped around himself. Crying. It had been three days since Frank had left for work. And he hasn't come home.
Did daddy abandon him? Did he not want him anymore? Did something bad happen? Gerard tried pushing away the thoughts, but really he just wanted to see his daddy again. Suddenly the phone rang. Gerard could hear it from downstairs. He sprung up out of his bed and ran downstairs. He grabbed the phone that was in the kitchen and fumbled with the buttons, answering quickly.
"Daddy?!"
"Hey Gerard..."
"Mikey..?"
"Yeah..."
"Where's daddy?"
"That's why I called..."
"You know where he is?"
"It's... Hard to explain..."
"Tell."Mikey gave a heavy sigh before he explained to Gerard what had happened. "Your daddy... He... He was caught in... In a car accident..." Mikey said softly. "No, no... That's not... That's not true!" Gerard stammered. "I'm sorry Gerard... I don't know if he's in a hospital or... Or if he..." "You're lying! Daddy promised he would come home!" Gerard shouted, tearing up.
"Gerard, I'm sorry, but-" "You're lying! You're lying, you're lying, you're lying! Daddy's gonna come home! He said he would!" Gerard shouted. "Gerard, listen-" "No! Daddy's coming home! He promised!" "Gerard-" "He promised!" Gerard screamed, throwing the phone across the kitchen. He then collapsed onto his knees on the floor, and burst into tears.
Days passed. Weeks. And it was always the same phone call.
"Gerard, I can take you home with me-"
"No. I'm not leaving. I need to wait for daddy to come back. He'll come, he promised."
And Frank never came.Weeks turned into a month, and Gerard still refused to go with Mikey. He stayed home alone and made sure he fed himself and did everything his daddy taught him to. And when he wasn't taking care of himself, he was sitting in front of the front door. He sat there, and never left that spot. Only when he needed to, but he was always there. Waiting. Waiting for Frank to open the door. He knew he would. He promised he would. He just needed to wait.
He sat there for hours. Days. Weeks. Months. It had been two months already. No phone calls from Frank. No sign of him. But he would come. Gerard was sure of it.
One night, Gerard lost it. He was tired of waiting, and he wanted his daddy back. He needed him. Gerard sat sobbing hysterically in front of the door, begging for his daddy to come home. Nobody opened the door.
Nights later it happened again. Gerard was bursting into tears, sobbing loudly. He was ready to give up. If he couldn't have his daddy back, what else was there to live for?
Gerard was curled up on the floor, crying hysterically, begging for his daddy to come back. Gerard slowly heard a creaking sound, and looked up at the door. "D-Daddy..!"
Gerard threw his arms around Frank, holding him tightly and sobbing into his chest. "Oh kitten... Why are you crying..?" Frank said softly, sliding his hand through Gerard's hair. "I'm so sorry I was gone for so long baby... I got hurt... And there wasn't anything I could do, not for a while... I'm so sorry..." Frank cooed gently, kissing Gerard's head. "Don't cry... I'm here now..."
"M-Missed you s-so much d-daddy..." Gerard stammered as he sobbed into Frank's chest. "Shh... I know baby... I'm here for you now... Don't cry..." Frank gently lifted Gerard up into his arms, holding him close. He wiped away the tears that kept streaming down Gerard's face. "It's okay, everything is okay... I'm here for you... Daddy's here... I won't ever leave you like that again, I promise..." Frank said gently.
"D-Daddy... M-My head... I-It hurts..." Gerard stammered. "You've been crying too much baby... It's okay, I'm here... No more crying..." Frank said softly, feeling himself get choked up by seeing Gerard so upset. Frank softy kissed Gerard's forehead. "I love you so so much baby... I'll always be here for you... It's okay... No more tears..."
"P-Please daddy... I-I need you..." Gerard stammered. "I'll take care of you, it's okay... Don't worry baby... Daddy's here... Daddy's got you..." Frank cooed, kissing Gerard's head softly. "I'll always be here for you baby... Always..."
"D-Daddy..?"
"Yes kitten..?
"P-Promise..?"
"Yes baby, I promise... I'll always be here for you... No matter what..."And as Frank kept his promise of coming home,
He kept this one as well.***********************************************************************************************
