 PROLOGUE

January 12, 2013

 

Dr. Chloe McDaniel’s log: 22 days after initial infection

 

            I don’t know how longer we can stand this. The infection has spread on a global scale, and we are unable to contain it, due to its extreme adaptability. It keeps mutating on a level I’ve never seen in a virus before. The infected…Those grotesque monsters are becoming stronger, and harder to deal with. Oh, the nightmares I have about them. They are mutating faster than we can keep up with. The level of human consciousness is completely lost; the only drive left is to spread the parasite to other hosts using any means possible.

 

We have to use anything we can to protect ourselves. Other survivors have built strongholds in old war bunkers around the world. It’s the only way we can keep ourselves safe, only going out for necessities, and even those are limited. The infection has even spread to animals.

 

I just pray we make it out of this alive...
