Chapter 20 - Rest in Peace, Cake Face

When I got to the school I saw Mr.Hot Back walking away from Logan and I stopped him, "Hey," I said sheepishly to Stefan.

"You know about Logan?" He asked, noticing my hesitant expression.

"Yup, Damon is still recovering from the bullets he shot into his chest," I said, walking with Stefan towards one of the doors.

We walked outside and Stefan pulled out his phone, "I'm going to call Damon," He said, dialing the number on his phone.

Once it started ringing I took it out of his hand, "I'll talk to him, you go tell Elena what's going on," I said to Stefan and he nodded as he turned and walked towards the school.

I put the phone to my ear, "Logan Fell is a vamp-" Damon started to say, but I interrupted him.

"Yeah I know," I said quickly, "And so does Stefan. Logan decided to crash career night, we're handling it," I said and then sighed.

"Handling it?" Damon questioned, "he tried to kill me, and you too, Emory. Don't tell me that you're handling it,"

"Okay fine Damon, come get your petty vengeance, but keep it quiet, please," I said as I hung up the phone and turned around, seeing Stefan and Elena staring at me in anticipation. "Well," I yelled, "Are we just going to stand here or are we going to go kill a vampire?" I asked, annoyed as I walked up to them and brushed past them, heading inside.

Once we were all inside, we were searching the halls looking for Logan when Elena brushed by Matt. "Hey," He said.

"Hey," Elena said back, and then stopped him before he could continue walking, "Have you seen Logan Fell, the news guy?" She asked.

"Yeah, he just gave Caroline a ride home," Matt said, sounding jealous.

Once Matt had walked away I turned to Mr.Hot Back and Elena, "Fuck Fuck," I said, scared. "Why can't people just stay dead?" I asked, annoyed as I threw my hands up dramatically and turned towards the front doors.

Suddenly Mr.Hot Back was standing directly in front of me, he looked to me and Elena, "Stay here," He said as he walked ahead of me and left the school. I turned to Elena and saw her staring at his retreating figure with fear and affection in her eyes.

I sighed and quickly followed after where Stefan had just went, but before I could, Elena grabbed my arm, "No," She said, turning me to face her, "You're not going to risk your life right now, I'm not losing another family member," Elena's eyes began to tear up and I sighed in defeat as I walked away from the doors and back towards the career tables.

I was leaning against a table with Elena, awaiting news from someone about Caroline when Elena suddenly gasped and ran to the door where Mr.Hot Back was standing. I followed behind her slowly, letting them have their romance moment and when I got close enough I jumped in on the conversation, "Back so soon?" I asked, lightly punching his arm, "How's Caroline?" I asked.

"She's safe and at home, shaken up, but she doesn't know anything," Stefan said, dragging me and Elena to a less busy hallway.

"Where's Logan?" Elena asked, worried.

"Damon's dealing with him," Stefan said, his voice slightly hesitant.

"As in..." Elena said, to which Stefan nodded in response.

"So Damon gets his revenge, and evil, cake face, vampire gets what he deserves," I said, sighing with a smile on my face, "Seems like a successful night," I could sense some tension between Elena and Stefan as Mr.Hot Back crossed his arms when Elena reached out to him, "Okay," I said awkwardly, "You guys talk, I'm going to head home and call Damon," I said as I turned and walked to my car.

When I got home I looked at my phone and saw I had a text from Elena, telling me that she wouldn't be home since she was staying with Stefan, I smiled at the message and went up to my room. I scrolled through my phone until I saw Damon's contact and I dialed his number. Damon didn't answer, causing me to sigh in annoyance and throw my phone onto my bed. I decided to take a shower and just go to bed, I'd call him when I woke up.

Before I got into the shower, I looked at myself in the mirror, the bite on my neck had faded but I could tell there was going to be a nasty scar. I ran my hand over it slowly as a tear slipped down my face, I quickly wiped it off and removed my hand. It was so weird how all of this stuff had been thrown into my life so quickly. My best friend is technically dead, eating sorority girls and cheerleaders, and my sister's boyfriend is a vegetarian vampire, eating Bambi and Thumper. My childhood friend is a witch, causing feather tornadoes and lighting candles with her mind. Everything suddenly became terrifying, leaving the house brings forth tons of unknowns, I could die at any second. I'm tired of it, tired of being weak and helpless. I hadn't realized I had been crying until I finally looked at myself in the now foggy mirror and saw the tears on my cheeks, I quickly wiped them off and stepped into the shower. Quickly washing everything and then getting dressed into pajamas. I walked into my room and fell onto my bed, falling asleep.

Everything was pitch black, I couldn't see anything. I was straining my eyes, opening and closing them trying to see something, but it was useless. Suddenly everything turned bright, and instead of pitch black, it was blinding light. Once my eyes adjusted I saw I was in a plain white room; white walls and white floors. There was a small table in the center of the room that I began walking to, my movements not in my control. On top of the table was a stick of some sort, it almost resembled crystal but it was shaped similar to a pencil. I saw my hand reach out and pick it up. It felt light in my hands, almost natural. All of a sudden symbols began swirling around me, around the room. My hand began moving, tracing and following the symbols with the crystal, flowing in different patterns. Suddenly the crystal touched my arm and it began to sting, the pain was excruciating as I saw the crystal carve a symbol onto my skin. I couldn't tell what the symbol was, all I knew is that I was somehow writing it, or carving it. Suddenly my hand stopped moving and the crystal fell to the floor, my arm was still burning but the room began to fade away. The bright light becoming dark once again, but as my eyesight faded, the burning pain in my arm remained.

A/N Okay you can probably guess where this is going now, I'm super excited for it!! I'm not sure how I'm going to incorporate it into the Gilbert family line, but I'll figure it out :) THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR THE CONTINUOUS SUPPORT AND IF YOU'VE READ THIS FAR I LOVE YOU AND I WOULD APPRECIATE FEEDBACK OF ANY KIND WHETHER IT BE A VOTE A COMMENT OR JUST A READ I DONT MIND.
