Dusk light was just peeking at the sky, a night mist growing along the unforgiving moorland. The fog filled a certain dip in the ground, sweeping at the paws of cats gathered around a great she-cat standing tall on a boulder. A small cat was crouched at the base.
"If what Ravenwing says is true, there's no way we can keep her in the clan." A ginger tabby growled, his fur on end. The camp erupted in loud meows of agreement.
The white cat on the stone swished her tail for silence, and the calls died down.
"There's no way I could exile one of our apprentices out of the clan--" The white cat began, but was cut off by a loud brown tabby tom.
"Why not?! We don't want her, she's a walking mistake!" The apprentice shadowed by the rock pushed herself lower to the ground, yellow eyes round with fear and pain, though there wasn't a scratch on her.
"-- She can leave if it's what she wants to do, but I won't force her to leave." The white leader finished, the fading sunlight outlining her sleek frame.
"But we don't want her. We can't have a cat who's literally an example of the code being broken," a gray tabby growled. Several meows of concurrence rose up, cutting off as the young cat at the base of the tall rock finally moved from where she was crouching, running full pelt out of the hollow.
"And don't ever come back!" The brown tabby howled after the fleeing cat.
