Chapter 2:
Partners, How Cliché

»Garroth«
Friends; what are they? Certainly, I have no idea what they are. Maybe a baby could understand more about these so-called friends better than I do. I refused to have friends. I refuse to contact with anyone. But what about these people who call themselves my friends? I guess you could call them my friends. Well, forced friends that is. Friends who I didn't ask for, nor did I want. There is only one person who I would ever consider my 'friend'. Only one person I trust. Only one person I'd give up my own life for. That girl that is just a blur of my memories. But she's gone anyways. (this sounds depressing tbhhhh xD)

Lunch was over and it was time hell again. I mentally signed to myself, really not wanting to go to class. My friends said their goodbyes, as for me, I just walked away without saying a single word to them. I was quickly taken out of the cafeteria, before being stopped by a small, innocent voice. "U-uh, G-Garroth?" I kept on walking not really caring that she was calling me. "G-Gar-, Garroth w-wait..!" I sighed and turned around, seeing the short girl called Aphmau, bump into my chest, then look up at me. "Sor-sorry, I-I didn't mean to b-bump into yo-you." My colorless icy blue eyes met her colorful caramel ones. I stared intensely at her as if I were asking her 'what the heck do you want' with them. "Oh-h! I wanted to a-ask yo-"
"Language Arts." A cold and low voice was heard coming out of my mouth. She flinched back a bit from the tone of my voice. She quickly dropped her head, looking down at the ground, probably not wanting to look at me. "E-erm, m-me too..." That voice of hers was so quiet. Once again, I sighed and started walking to my class. As I was walking, I didn't hear those little petite footsteps of her, making me turn around, seeing Aphmau still looking at the ground, spacing out. "Aphmau" I called out, "Are you coming or not."
She shook her head gently, coming out of her thoughts and looked at me. She made a small movement, a.k.a a nod, before running next to me. We started walking side by side. My eyes were focused in front of me, but just then I heard Aphmau's small voice again. "Hey G-Gar-" Cutting her off, I started to speak. "Stop stuttering, would you? It's annoying. There's nothing to be nervous about, nor is there anything to be scared about." She gave me a nod. "O-ok- oops sorry, anyways....." She sorta trailed off a bit before continuing. "May I ask you something?" She asked, looking at me with a small smile on her face. I shrugged and nodded. Her smile widened. "Why don't you smile or laugh or make a happy expression or fe-" Cutting her off once more, I talked. "Man, you sure so talk a lot, don't you?" My comment made her smile, but I wasn't done talking. "Well then Aphmau, here is a question for you. Why be happy if there is nothing to be happy about?" Disbelief was written across her face. "What do you mean there is nothing to be happy about?! There are lots of things to be happy about! Just living should make you happy!" She tried to tell me otherwise, but it wasn't working.
"In my life, there isn't anything to be happy about since.....erm, nevermind." A questionable expression covered her face. "What?" "Nothing" Aphmau didn't ask anymore questions after that. She probably noticed I didn't want about what happened to me. We continued walking to class together, staying silent. As we walking in, I sat at my usual spot while Aphmau sat at a desk across the room from me. Our Language Arts teacher walked in and started talking about a project that already bore me. Suddenly I heard something about partners. "You will work on this with a partner, and before you say anything I'm choosing your partners. No complaining or whining." I hate having a partner. I hate people in general. And most of my teachers, including this one, know that. Great teacher, right? Note the sarcasm. I mentally sighed.
"Katelyn and Travis." Travis started smiling and looking over at Katelyn while Katelyn groaned. "Ivy and Teony" Well, at least I won't have to be partnered with the devil-spawn named Ivy. The teacher called a few more names before I heard my name being called by my teachers' lovely voice. "Garroth and Aphmau." Oh, great. Me and her. Being partners. How cliché is this day going to get, because I'm already tired of it. My eyes drifted across the room, only to see that very cheery girl looking straight at me with a big smile on her. Well, she looked excited. Couldn't say the same for me, but oh well. I sighed for like the zillionth time today. I sigh a lot, don't I? Still, something about Aphmau seemed all too familiar. Very familiar. My thoughts were broken as the teacher started blabbing her annoying mouth again. Did I mention I liked being rude to people? "You will be writing a book report on a book of your choice. You must present it to the class. This will be due in three weeks, is that clear?" A few groans and some 'yeses' were heard around the room. The teacher clapped her hands together. "Okay, you may get to work now." I got up and started to walk toward Aphmau's desk. Once I stood in front of her, I asked, "So, what book are we doing?" Suddenly, her face lit up. "I'm not going to like this book, am I?" I groaned at her as she grinned bigger, before yelling out the book. "MIDNIGHT!" Oh, great. This book.
"No."
"Yes!"
"Nope, we aren't doing it."
"Yes we are."
"No!"
"Yes!"
"FINE!" She smiled more before grabbing a piece of paper. "Let's get planning then."
This girl is something else, I swear.
