You know that saying that says 'Time flies by when you're having fun'? Yeah, well it doesn't really make a lot of sense to why the week passed by, and Friday finally came; the day that I've been dreading the whole week. The party that Parker told me about was taking place today, and I wasn't really looking forward to it.
"Earth to Jenn," Lilly snapped her fingers at me, grabbing my attention. "Are you even listening to me?"
I looked at her guiltily and shook my head. "Do I really have to go to this party?"
"Yes, you have to," Meg took a bite out of her salad. "This is what you want, remember? To live your life and have fun."
Meg and I have been sitting with Parker, Lilly, Nathan, and Cole for the past week. It was nice change from the other bratty girls and sitting alone.
"So back to what I was saying, you guys are going to come over to my house today so we can get ready for the party. It'll be so much fun," Lilly gushed, excitedly.
"I don't even have anything to wear."
"Stop making excuses, Jenn. That's why you're coming over. Don't worry about that."
I decided to drop the matter and then tuned in to see what the guys were fighting about. They were talking about giraffes. Giraffes.
"I'm telling you, giraffes-they don't have sex. I mean have you seen how big they are?" Cole's eyes were wide and he had his hands motioning around.
"Well, how do you think they get babies, huh?" Nathan argued back.
"I think I'm with Nathan. Maybe they have another way to reproduce," Parker joined in.
"I think I lost my appetite." Meg pushed her tray away from her in disgust. I laughed along with Lilly, and the guys gave us weird looks.»»»
I shoved my books in my locker, and then unexpectedly, someone shut it. And by someone, I meant Parker.
"Do you promise not to back out?"
I stared irritatedly at him and said, "How could I? You may as well have hired a gang to kidnap me and to make sure I go to the party. Meg already texted my mom and Lilly won't let me leave the school until I'm with her. And then she won't let me leave the house until I'm in the party."
"So I'm gonna take that as a no?" The corners of his mouth lifted in a small smile, popping his dimples.
HOLY MOTHER OF NUGGETS.
How can someone be that cute and hot and sexy at the same time?
"Yeah, I'm not backing out." I reassured him.
A couple of minutes passed by and we stood there staring at each other. Deep into his ocean blue eyes that sucked me in. It was mesmerizing. I stared at his features, his beautiful sharp features, and then we were leaning in.
I was going to kiss him.
I was going to kiss Parker Reed.
Everything was in slow- motion; staring at those soft kissable lips, and him staring back.
"We've been looking for you everywhere!"
Our big moment was interrupted when Lilly and Meg came up to us.
Parker cleared his throat awkwardly, and I felt a deep blush appear on my cheeks.
"You were... Oh." Meg looked at the both of us, seeming to understand the situation.
"I.. I have to go now." I stuttered and gestured to Meg and Lilly. Parker nodded, still seeming awkward.
Meg, Lilly, and I left Parker and headed to Lilly's car.
"You guys were going to kiss." Lilly stated with a smile and wide eyes.
"Oh my God!" Megan squealed and started giggling.
I don't know, we're we really going to kiss if they hadn't interrupted us? Or were we going to back away at the last second. He was a player. He was a player. I had to get that stuck in my head, because if I fall in love with him, it won't end up well.
He was a player.
A person that plays with your feelings, and then leaves you to play with another girl. It didn't matter that he was a really good person inside, or that he was the guy of every girl's dream.
Because he was a player.
"We're here." I didn't even realize that we got there; I was too caught up in my thoughts. Lilly turned off the engine and we left the car.
I took in a sharp breath as I looked around. This was not a house, this was a palace. It looked to be about 4 stories tall with a large pool, a big fountain up in front, and a massive beautiful garden filled with the prettiest flowers I have ever seen.
"Close your mouths or you might just catch flies," Lilly said with a laugh.
"This is your house?" Meg asked in amazement.
"No, not at all. I just wanted check if this random house's flowers were watered or not." Lilly's voice dripped with sarcasm as she said that. "Come on."
She started walking past the fountain and we stopped once we reached the large burgundy front door.
"Fuck," Lilly muttered and closed her eyes, "I forgot my keys in my locker."
"Well ring the doorbell, isn't anyone in the house?"
She paused, thinking, before smiling brightly and rang the doorbell. I shook my head at her and we waited for someone to open the door. Right before Meg was going to ring the doorbell a second time, the door opened and I was surprised to see who stood there.
"Nathan? What are you doing here?" I asked, surprised.
"I don't know, just living in my house."
And then it clicked. The same brown hair and chocolate eyes. Nathan was Lilly's brother. They were siblings. How come I just found that out?
"You guys didn't tell us you were siblings," I said as we entered the house.
"Us? Oh, I knew," Meg said, looking around the house.
"How am I the only one that doesn't know?" I asked.
"I don't know, you're pretty unobservant." Lilly led us up the glass stairs and into her bedroom.
"Thanks," I said sarcastically.
My eyes roamed around the big room. The walls were all baby blue and the soft mats were, also, a matching shade of baby blue. White Curtains hung over the window across the white queen-sized bed, under a large flat screen TV. There was a glass studying desk that had an Apple computer with framed pictures on it. It was a very pretty room.
"You must be loaded," I said as I back-flopped onto the bouncy soft bed.
"You are very blunt, and yes, I am. My parents own an oil company. Anyway, do you have anything in mind that you want to wear?"
"Nah, you choose for me."
"What about you Meg?"
"I THINK IM IN HEAVEN," Meg squealed from the walk-in closet, causing Lilly and I to laugh.»»»
2 and a half hours later we were all ready and look pretty good.
I had on a white half sleeved dress that reached up to mid thigh. The rim and the top part had golden zigzags. For makeup, Meg kept it light and simple with black eyeliner that made my emerald green eyes to pop, blush, and lipgloss. I also had a matching golden bracelet.
Lilly had on a black dress that had a slit that showed a bit of cleavage, but didn't make her look slutty; it was the perfect amount. The dress was backless all the way until above the butt and then it flowed out until mid thigh.
Meg had on a dress that was all sparkles at the bust and then the rest was black that flowed out to mid thigh like Lilly's.
I checked my watch and said, "Come on, you guys, we're very late."
"Fashionably late." Lilly winked at us and grabbed her clutch.
I felt giddy with excitement when we rushed down the stairs, purse in my hand. I've been to a party once before and that was when Tris threw a party when our parents weren't here. It didn't end well for Tris... and our furniture.
We climbed into Lilly's car and twenty mixtures later, we reached our destination. The party was already in full swing, as expected. Will Parker act awkward tonight after what happened earlier? I hoped not.
We got out of the car and walked to the front door. Music was pumping very loudly and the front door was wide open. The house was pretty big but not as big as Lilly's.
"Whose party is this?"
"It's Parker's." Lilly had to shout over the loud music so I can be able to hear her.
Everyone in the party was either dancing, grinding on each other, making out, or playing ping pong beer. The usual.
We headed over to the kitchen for drinks, and I grabbed an unopened drink. Tris had taught me not to drink from an opened bottle or to take a drink from someone else. I could end up getting drugged.
"Come on, let's go dance," Lilly said.
"Nah, I'll just stay here for a while. I want to get in the mood first," I refused.
"Okay we'll be at the dance floor," Meg said and they both walked away.
I took a sip of my beer and winced slightly as the liquid lightly burned my throat. I'm not supposed to be drinking a lot since I was a lightweight.
"Hey." Parker stood beside me with a beer in his hand. He looked very hot in the navy blue button up shirt her was wearing with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows.
"Hi. So this is your house?" It was pretty big and the ceilings were high.
"Yup," he popped the p, "you look hot today." His eyes roamed over my body stopping at my legs a bit too long.
I raise an eyebrow. "So I don't look hot everyday?"
"I never said that," he smirked as he took another swing from his beer.
I was glad that things weren't awkward as I thought it would be.
"Do you want to dance?"
"Yeah sure," I left my beer on the counter and we both headed to the dance floor. The song Roses by The Chainsmokers was one. It was a good song but it was seriously overplayed.
Things were awkward at first but then I slowly relaxed and let the music guide my body. Swinging my hips to the beat of the song, my eyes closed, and my hands up in the air. It felt good. I opened my eyes and saw Parker staring at me intensely. It made me freeze. We got closer and I felt the heat radiating off of him as we danced.
Once the song ended, Cole came up to me and asked to dance. He was one of the nicest guys that I have ever met.
"I have to go anyways. Gotta get the tequila shots ready for a game of truth and dare. Come over when you're done." Parker winked at me and left Cole and I on the dance floor.»»»
