There were two kinds of people in this world. The first kind was the kind that waits for the special things to happen to them in life. The second kind was the kind that took the moment, and made it special.
I was the kind that waited for the special things to happen to me. I never rushed anything, just waited. Which explained why I still haven't went to Parker and talked to him again about the year and the plan. I didn't have to rush. The whole year was still ahead of me.
I doodled on my notebook, and listened to Mrs. Montgomery, my literature teacher, drawl on about reading in between the lines of Hamlet. This was the only class I had with Meg, but she wasn't here today. She said she was sick today and might not even come tomorrow.
The bell rang, signaling that lunch had began, and I hurriedly gather my books and leave the class. While I was putting my books in my locker, I realized that I was going to have to sit alone in lunch.
Fantabulous.
I shut my locker and walked into the cafeteria, looking around. I could sit with the girls Meg and I sit with every lunch, but I didn't like them. The only reason I sat there, was because they were friends with Meg.
From my peripheral vision, I caught someone waving his hand at me. It was Parker.
Now, I had two options. I could sit with the girls I don't like on the right, or I end up sitting with Parker and his cool friends with my awkwardness, on the left.
I turned right, my grilled cheese sandwich from home in my hand, but then I stopped short in my tracks. Kate was sitting there, for the first time. You could say she was my arch-nemesis.
Since we were both straight A students and she was in all my classes, we competed in everything. Even finishing tests first. We've been at it for 12 years now. Yeah, I know it's a bit childish.
I instantly turned left, and headed to Parker's table.
Okay why did I do this.
Maybe I should go back.
This is going to be real awkward.
Once I got there, I smiled at them, and said, "Hi, is this seat taken?" I pointed to the empty seat.
"No, no, it isn't," Parker said with a smirk.
I took the seat next to the same girl that laughed yesterday, in front of Parker. There were two other guys here excluding the girl, a blonde with gorgeous blue eyes, and a brown skinned, very hot guy with chocolate brown eyes.
"I'm Lilly," said the pretty brown skinned girl, "and this is Nathan," she pointed at the guy with chocolate eyes, "and that's Cole."
Nathan winked at me, and Cole gave me a warm smile.
"I'm Jennette, but never call me that. Just call me Jenn." I took a bite out of my sandwich and looked back up to them.
"So, Jenn. There's gonna be a party this Friday." Parker leaned back in his chair, flipping through his phone.
"There's gonna be a party this Friday," I repeat his words.
"And you're coming."
"And I'm coming."
And then it hit me.
"Oh, no. No, I'm not," I argued.
"And why is that," Nathan challenged with a glint in his eyes.
"Because I'm busy," I lied.
"Doing what," Lilly crossed her arms.
"An Essay."
"From who."
"Mrs. Montgomery."
"HAH! You are lying," Lilly pointed her finger at me, "I have Mrs. Montgomery, and she didn't assign anything."
"You can never get anything passed by Lilly. Never." Cole shook his head with his mouth full.
"Don't speak with your mouth full, dimwit." Nathan flicked his forehead. And then they both started fighting.
"Break it up, girls, break it up." Parker clapped his hands and then turned back to me.
"Anyways, you're coming to the party."
"But-"
"You really don't have a choice," Lilly smirked, popping a fry in her mouth.
"But-"
"No butts, that's it. End of discussion."
"Fine," I gave up, because, really, there was no way I was gonna be able to get out of this.
"Are you gonna eat that?" Parker points to the uneaten apple on Nathan's tray.
"Yes."
"That's cute." He grabbed the apple, and took a bite out of it. I rolled my eyes as they started fighting.
This wasn't so bad after all, it was actually nice, I thought as I watched Lilly butting in to stop their fights.
