Chapter 4

After I fell into an uneasy sleep that night I almost got a heart attack when my alarm started off way too early in the morning. I threw a quick glance at the clock and sighed because it was only seven o'clock in the morning and I had been up until at least three in the morning searching for information about me, Sam, Sunnyboy, Miss Anorexia and Jesse. The latter was also an actor who had co-starred in my first ever movie and since then we seemed to be best friends. I found some rumours about us having had a relationship but there were only a few and no one ever said something about it. I wished I could ask him but how can you ask someone, if you had a secret relationship with them? Right, you don't.

Anyways, my phone informed me that I had to be ready and set until nine o'clock because I had an interview with Vogue. "What the hell?" I whispered to myself in a slightly desperate tone. How should I survive an interview? I didn't even know what was going on in my life, how should I answer questions from strangers about it? In order to stay calm, or at least try to be calm, I went for a shower and washed my hair. After I jumped out of the shower I looked out of the window to find out how the weather was. It was quite warm but it was only seven in the morning. My phone said that it should get 30°C that day so I decided to throw on hotpants, a simple red-white striped shirt and red Converse. Afterwards, I went down into the kitchen, were Mister Penguin immediately wished me a good morning. "What would you like for breakfast? Pancakes, waffles, cornflakes?" he asked me with too much enthusiasm for the morning.

"Pancakes, please," I answered and sat down on the dining table.

"Make that two, please!" Mister Country added and sat down in front of me. "Are you looking forward to the photoshoot?"

"Oh yeah, absolutely! Not sure what I should wear, though," I added innocently.

"Don't worry, they'll style you there! What you're wearing right now is fine. Don't forget about your date with Sam afterwards!" he answered and stood up to bring us two cups of coffee.

"Yeah, I won't. What about the questions of the interview? What do you think they want to know?"

"Just the usual," Mister Country took a sip of the coffee and gave me the other cup with a nod, "they'll want to know about the movie, any new plans, your relationship with the co-actors and probably also something about the rumours between you and...that guy." He almost said it with a disgusted tone. I decided to ignore it and instead dig deeper about my 'new plans'.

"But what should I reveal about new...projects?" I really hoped he wouldn't doubt my sanity with the questions I was asking. I didn't even know if I was not allowed to reveal anything. Maybe there was nothing to reveal?

"Oh well, I wouldn't say too much! Obviously, you have to mention that new movie with Johnny Depp, whatever its name was, because it's a big deal. But don't say anything about the singing! Just add that something big is coming but it's a surprise!" he babbled happily. What singing did he talk about though? I made a mental note to find out about it later and turned my attention to the pancakes that were coming towards me.

"Alright, thanks!" I said and took a bite of my pancakes. Damn, they were delicious! While I was eating and drinking my coffee, my mind was racing with answers to the questions. Well obviously, I had to deny the rumours between Richie and me. I had read in other interviews of both Sunnyboy and me that we denied them every single time. 'We're just close friends! Plus, we are both in happy relationships!' was what we always said. So I was just going to stick with that. I decided to research some other recent interviews to find out what I had said before. Firstly, because I needed to know what I had told them about my co-workers and project to not be controversial and secondly, to not repeat myself over and over again.

An hour later I was sitting in another black limousine, accompanied by Man in black and Mister Country. I had changed right before I left for the interview into a light flower dress and flats due to the date with Sam afterwards. The minute I sat down I pulled out my phone and searched for interviews. Moreover, I googled what the name of my new movie with Johnny Depp would be and when we'd start filming. Thank God for Wikipedia! I thought because the website was my only trustworthy companion. The new movie would be called 'Midnight Calling' and we'd start filming in three months but I had no idea about the plotline. Hopefully I hadn't gotten a screenplay yet. The relationship between my co-workers at the set of 'Falling Down' was apparently a good one but I guessed I had to say that anyways, also if it weren't a good one. Right now I had the feeling that it was actually kind of okay. You know, except for the fact I had an affair with my co-actor.

Our car suddenly stopped and Man in black got out of the car before me and then led me through a fair number of fans. I gave some autographs and took a few selfies with them because Man in black let me and afterwards we entered a huge building that was probably holding the Vogue office. After I was greeted I was brought into the styling room where a middle-aged lady with framed glasses and a brown-haired bob was waiting for me. She was quite tall and extremely skinny – she reminded me an awful lot of my co-star Miss Anorexia. "Good morning, Miss Joe!" she greeted me and smiled at me. That way she looked a lot nicer than before. In her hands she held a clipboard on which our agenda was listed. Immediately after greeting Man in black and Mister Country too, she explained to me what exactly was the plan for the day. First, I was getting styled and she showed me some of the outfits they wanted me to wear and asked me if I liked them. Apparently, she wanted me to feel comfortable which I added as a big plus for Vogue in my mind. After the photoshoot, a young reporter – who was immediately introduced to me – would hold the interview. While I was away getting styled, Mister Country went through the questions for the interview with her. It appeared to me that he was indeed my manager.

About half an hour later my make-up and hair was ready and I put on the first outfit. It was a tight black dress without straps and stopped at my mid-thighs. Moreover, I wore red high heels as a fashion eye-catcher. The photoshoot was quite fun and I changed twice into another dress that was made out of silk and longer than I was and one bikini with a quite transparent cropped top over it. Afterwards, the young reporter asked me the questions Mister Country told me and I gave the best answers I could. She also asked me about my body and what I did to make it look so 'incredible', as she called it. Thankfully, I had read some interviews where I had been talking about my fitness routine and I just repeated that in new words. Other things she wanted to know included my relationship with my boyfriend Sam Williams, my new projects and my favourite music and movies.

At half past eleven o'clock Man in black was driving me to the restaurant where I would meet my boyfriend for the first time – that I at least remembered. We stopped at a small café that looked very comfortable, cute and romantic. The perfect location for a date, right? It also had a huge glass front and I could already see the supposed Sam sitting at one of the tables next to the glass wall. "Have fun and call me when you want to be picked up!" Man in black said goodbye and drove off after I had left the car. I took one deep breath, remembered myself that everything would be alright and went inside. "Hey Maddie!" a blonde waitress with a ponytail greeted me with a friendly smile. "Sam's already waiting!" She pointed towards the guy I had already identified as Sam beforehand and I nodded, murmuring a 'Thank you'. Slowly I made my way towards the table because I wanted him to see me approaching. How the hell should I know how to greet him? I still wasn't one hundred percent sure he was my boyfriend and I didn't want to embarrass myself in front of him and well...everyone else. Please look up, please look up!
