Newfound Memories

"Sir, I got the records" the small worker said in a shaky voice, handing over the folder

"Perfect, thank you, this is just what we need for a huge breakthrough, I feel like we'll be close to getting his exact location"

"Apparently his family changed names again, sir"

"Do you know what name? That would be helpful"

"Howell, sir"

"First name?"

"Sorry sir, we're still working on that"

"No problem, this is perfect evidence to finding out his precise location so we can start experiments"

"I'll try to find out his first name, hopefully his high school as well"

"If you find out his high school, we've hit the jackpot and we can go and look through his records"

"Ok sir, I'll work on it"

"Don't let me down, Doctor Lester"

"Don't expect it, sir"

I open my eyes slightly and they're burned by the bright light above my head. There are wires attached to my head, chest, and arms.

I take a glimpse of the items surrounding me. I'm strapped to a dentist office looking chair. The table beside me holds medical supplies, but none like I've ever seen.

Two people walk up to me, a man and a woman. The man looks intimidating with a lab coat and mask covering the bottom half of his face. The lady looks small and fragile with jet black hair and blue eyes with a matching mask and lab coat.

"Ok buddy, don't tense up or it'll just hurt worse" said the man, bringing up a little remote.

He presses the button and a shooting pain goes through my head. It's pounding and feels like I'm being electrocuted.

I let out a shrieking scream as my body starts to shake. The pain is unbearable.

"It's ok" says the lady "it's just scanning the information in your head, it will be over soon"

I bolt upwards out of bed, sweaty and out of breath.

The same goddamn nightmare about the same goddamn day. The most traumatizing day of my life.

I look around and see the time

3:27am

I moan and roll over to try to fall back to sleep.

Phil
I run down the stairs to the kitchen to grab something to eat before making it to school on time. I meet up with my mother, grabbing her keys ready to leave for work.

"Hey mum!" I exclaim while grabbing a bowl from the cabinet.

"Hey sweetie! I was just about to leave for work, we're about to have a huge breakthrough! Dr. is really impressed"

"That's awesome!"

"I'll see you later, bye Phil!"

"Bye mum!" I yell back as she leaves

The house is empty and quiet, it's how I like it.

I finish my cereal and check the time.

7:30

20 minutes until I have to leave. I jump onto the sofa and turn on a re-run of Friends.
