“Why do we have to go? Isn’t this party for older kids?” I asked seriously annoyed with my best friend.
But before Jace could answer me, his phone went off. He walked into, my bathroom to answer the call. He didn’t want me to know who he was talking to. It must have been some kind of guy thing, or one of the slutty girls from out school trying to get with him for the night.
The thing about me and Jace is that we are exactly alike. Except for our gender, you’d think we were brother and sister. Or dating.
That’s what the whole school seems to think anyway.
Me and Jace have been best friends since diapers. That’s why I was being dragged to this stupid party. I was invited, by more than one guy, to be there date. But I rather stay home and watch a movie. Despite how popular I was, I never really liked to party.
“Jaceeee” I whined. The clothes he picked out for me were seriously not something I would wear to a party. The beach maybe, a party, no. I don’t want guys getting the wrong idea. The white shorts he picked out were too short for my liking, and my off the shoulder tee was low-cut exposing my boobs a little, but not in a slutty way, just enough for you to know they existed.
Jace came out of the bathroom with an angry look on his face, one I haven’t seen in a long time. I haven’t seen him look that pissed since....
“Kya.” Jace said interrupting my thoughts.
“What’s wrong Jace?” I whispered.
“Mickey is back in town.” Jace gnarled through gritted teeth.
Shit! This can’t be good. Mickey’s back? After what he did to me, I can’t believe he had the nerve to come back!
“And if he has the nerve to show up at Bren’s party then I say we show him what he is missing.” Jace said with a smirk, walking to my closet.
“Jace…this isn’t a good Idea...We shouldn’t go tonight.”
“We are going, and we have to leave soon Ky.” Jace snapped, throwing shoes at me.
He had picked a pair of thigh-high leather boots from last Halloween. I slipped the shoes on and laced them up. Jace stared at me, his eyes wondering all over my body. I felt like I looked ridiculous.
“Take a picture it will last longer” I told him.
“That’s exactly what we want. We want him to stare at you. To see what he left behind.”
Why I was trusting Jace about this stupid party I will never know. But he is my best friend, and since Mickey is back I can’t let him go to the party alone. If Mickey is there Jace will hit him and it will turn into a war. I couldn’t let that happen.
Jace has always been protective of me. But when it came to Mickey and other guys, Jace was extremely overprotective.
“Why? Why even give him the satisfaction of seeing me?”
“Because he thinks you are still the same quiet shy girl he was dating two years ago. He has no idea that you’ve changed. He doesn’t know you’ve dyed your hair and that you are even more popular than he was. He has no idea about any of it. He won’t believe it. He will want you back and that is where my plan comes into play.”
By the look on Jace’s face I knew he was up to no good. Whatever plan he supposedly had was really dark and twisted. I’ve seen that look before. And it never ends well.
"Jace, you do remember Dre don’t you? You know my boyfriend." I reminded him quietly.
He frowned for a moment as he thought and it wasn’t long until his frown turned into a smirk.
I could tell this was going to be a long night. I had a feeling that whatever Jace was thinking, he wasn’t letting me know yet, was going to get me hurt.
And hurt really bad.

An hour later here I was standing in front of a really big house, that you could mistake for a mansion, with Jace by my side. He had squeezed my hand before we started walking, to reassure me that everything would be okay.
I heard a very familiar voice shriek my name. Zoey. I recognized my other bestfriends shrieks from anywhere.
“Hey girl.” I said as she ran up to me.
“This party is gonna be a great start to a new school year!” She told me.
“You know I don’t like parties’ Zo. This better be a great one, or I’m leaving.” I told her as Jace pulled me through the front door.
I heard ke wish me luck and the rest of her sentence was tuned out by the blaring of the speakers. Drake rapping could be heard throughout the neighborhood I’m sure.
I wonder why she was wishing me luck. Was it because I was at a party? I mean, sure I didn’t come to parties much. They just weren’t my scene. But I had been to enough to know what they are like. Jace had a thing for dragging me away from my comfy bed and glorious ps4.
Jace pulled me into the kitchen. I guess he wanted to start drinking early tonight.
There were a few people who were in the kitchen as well, getting drinks and eating the mini sandwiches Bran’s staff had put out.
Jace poured me a cup of something resembling a drink. I couldn’t tell what it was, but it was something strong to start the night off I’m sure.
As Jace started to find himself a drink he growled. I figured it was because they didn’t have any bud light. Knowing him he would be upset for a while now, and I’d have to make him happy again so he can get back to the party.
When I turned around I dropped my drink, and my mouth fell open.
Mickey.
He was really back. I didn’t think he would show his face after what he did.
Mickey was back, and he was walking towards me.
