My light in the dark

Chapter 1

A boy no more than twelve sat in the alley, all around people rushed to get out of the rain, ignoring the small shadow like they didn't see him. His black hair was soaked and sat flat against his neck and face, his face buried in his arms, his knees drawn up to his chest. He was filthy, covered in mud and blood and bruises marked his body, both old and new but he didn't make a sound as the rain poured down on him. He didn't feel the rain anymore and looked up into the kind blue eyes of a young boy with sunflower yellow hair, a smile on his face as he held an umbrella over the first boy, ignoring the rain that now soaked his clothes.

"Do you have anywhere to be tonight?"

The first boy shook his head and the blue eyed boy smiled brightly down at him.

"Then come to my place, I can let you use the shower, have a change of clothes, some dinner and even a bed for the night."

The dark haired boy let himself be pulled to his feet and looked down at the smaller boy, his head cocked in surprise.

"Why would you offer to help a stranger like me? I could be trouble."

"Maybe but I don't think you are. Come on. My name is Naruto, and you?"

"Sasuke!"

I groaned and sat up on my chair looking around the office. I had dozed off in my chair again. A large window to the left of me looked out over the city from the twentieth floor and I could see it was well and truly night time. The knocking started again and I growled.

"What do you want?"

The door opened and a giant man walked in with orange hair and matching eyes. His bulk almost took up the entire doorway as he closed it behind him and walked over to the desk.

"Did you fall asleep again?"

"Jugo, I was having a dream of the past. What is it?"

"Karin and Suigetsu tracked the traitor down and recovered the stolen data. They are waiting for your arrival."

I rubbed my tired eyes and stretched as I looked out the window. The image of the blue eyed boy flashed into my mind and I shook my head.

"Tell them to handle it. I want to know who hired him and what they wanted with that data. I am going to have a drink."

I stood up and picked up my jacket that was draped on the chair and caught a smirk on my second in commands face. He went back to being expressionless as I glared at him.

"I will fetch the car."

Naruto's Pov

The bar was busy tonight. We had a good band playing and the whole place was crowded. I rushed out food and drinks like mad and finally there was a breather.

"He's back again."

I turned to my friend and workmate Sakura and looked to where she was indicating. A well-dressed man about my age was sliding into a chair at the corner of the bar. He had a large muscled friend with striking orange hair who instead of sitting with him, moved on and stood nearby, his eyes skimming the crowd. The raven haired man took off his jacket and draped it over the stool next to him and I met his onyx eyes with my blue ones. I was already moving, grabbing the expensive bottle of whiskey from underneath the counter and making my way over to him.

"It's pretty late, I didn't think you would be coming tonight."

He smiled up at me, showing off perfectly white teeth against his slightly tanned skin.
