AN sorry about the lack of updates had some family problems but now I'm back, enjoy.
I stepped out of the car and stared at my apartment building as Kakashi grabbed my bag out of the back. With a deep breath I headed up the stairs and used the new key to unlock the door. I stepped inside, Kakashi behind me.
"Naruto!"
I looked up to see Shikamaru rush towards me. He pulled me into an embrace and I hugged him back, my eyes stinging a bit. He pulled back and smiled down at me, his eyes looking for injuries I was glad I had decided to wear a long sleeved turtle neck. I really didn't Shikamaru to see the bruises and the marks Sasuke had made to cover them.
"You must be Kakashi."
Shikamaru turned his attention to the eye patched silver haired man who nodded, his goofy smile on his face.
"I am just dropping his stuff off and then heading out. I will see you around."
He handed the bag to my roommate and ruffled my hair before heading back out the door.
"Strange that one. He is your body guard?"
"Sort of. His is just keeping an eye on me for Sasuke."
"Hmm."
His eyes took on the far off look he usually had when he was thinking and with a sigh I grabbed my stuff and headed to my room. I paused at the doorway before taking a deep breath and stepping in. there was nobody on my bed and the window was closed and I could see the new lock on it.
"You sure you're alright?"
I started at the voice beside me and Shikamaru steadied me.
"I will take that as a no."
"It's just hard being back here after only a few days. After he broke in it's like he spoiled this place for me, like it isn't home."
"But a hotel room is? I will cook up some dinner."
I knew he was joking but he was right. Shikamaru was like family, this was our house but the hotel felt like home. No, being with Sasuke is what made it feel like home. I had fallen badly for the raven haired man, mafia or not.
The week passed without any incidents. I went back to my two jobs, making sure to keep my bruises covered though. They had faded to an ugly brown colour now and Sasuke's bite marks had also become non-existent. He kept true to his word and we spoke every day. He came to the café every morning I worked for a coffee and if he didn't make it the bar, he made sure to at least call me. We only exchanged a few embraces and kisses but nothing further. I needed time to heal, to think he had said. I didn't want the distance, I only wanted to be with him.
"I am taking you out on Saturday."
We were sitting down at the café I worked at as I was on a break as he gulped a coffee down and Jugo stood outside, talking on the phone. He was needed somewhere but he told me it could wait thirty minutes while he spent some time with me. I was a little bit happy to hear I was more important than his work but I also couldn't help but think on what sort of job he needed to do.
"I'm working at the bar that night."
"I had Sakura do your shift, you have the whole day to spend with me."
When I still had me head cocked to the side in confusion he sighed and a slight blush tinged his cheeks.
"It's our one month anniversary."
I felt warmth flood through my body at his words and couldn't help but think how cute he looked, a blush on his cheeks as he stared out the window in embarrassment. I reached over and grasped his hand.
