CHAPTER VI
RYAN POV
I didn't want to hire a taxi and get bored during the ride back, so I had called my friend Jake earlier and asked him to come and get me. Jake is like one of my best buds. We had known each other since the time when I stole his tricycle. I smiled as those memories came rushing back in my head.
A little boy with jet black hair had been crying because his tri had gotten stolen. How much we had changed since then. How I wish I could just rewind the time and live all my life in those precious moments of my childhood. We had nothing to worry about, back then. My real mother was still there wi....... Not a single damn worry. I sighed as I made way through the crowd of people knowing that I won't be able to go back in time no matter how much I wanted it. So why think of the inevitable??
I saw Jake waiting for me and I made my way to him. A blond chic was there with him blabbering on and on about something I couldn't hear as I was out of ear shot. As I walked further I could make out that the chic was chattering happily about the different shades of color that a nail polish has and also about facial masks. And Jake was trying to make his irritation obvious but the girl took no notice of it. Being the most awesome friend that I am I took my sweet time reaching Jake.
As soon as he saw me he rushed towards me like I was his life's link. Immediately relief washed over his face as he shrugged off the blond chic and proceeded towards me.
The girl got pissed off by the way he shrugged at her and then she huffed away only after checking me out. I smirked. Me and Jake did a man hug and started talking about the different sports that we are going to take part in the upcoming New Year as we made our way towards his convertible. During the whole ride back I started telling him about Amber whom I had met at the airport and what and all crazy things she had done to get even with me. He was silent the whole time except for the part when I told him about the diaper thingy and he laughed for at least 5 minutes while I glared at him. But did he stop laughing?? No he did not.
"Dude, this is like the first time a girl has got the better of you and on top of that you even remember the girl's name. What did she look like? She must have been pretty smokin' if she got your attention so much that you even remember her name." he inquired in a Jake like manner where he was a typical player.
"Meh. She wasn't that good looking." Lie. "I only remember her coz she was the first girl who had the guts to stand up to me. Good thing that she is gone and I won't be meeting her again. Coz she was really annoying." I replied while taking in the scenery outside. Our school was located outside the main city. So we had to travel right through the main city in order to reach our school campus. After the main city is the forest and then comes our school. It takes like at least 2 hours from the airport. So I decided to take a nap as I had not been able to sleep because of Amber.
"Dude, wake up, we're here." Someone said shaking me vigorously and at the same time jolting me from my amazing dream.
"What?" I asked- annoyed at having been awoken- as I shielded my eyes away from the bright light of the sun.
"We are here, your highness" Repeated Jake as he whacked the side of my head.
I glared at him, "I was just about to receive the trophy for leading my team to victory in the NFL's."
"Get your head out of the clouds, for your dream to become a reality you will first have to win in the state championships." He replied, immediately becoming a dream crusher. I tried getting out of the car, the operative word being "tried" as my legs had gone numb from sleeping in an uncomfortable position and I couldn't feel them. I stumbled out of the car and helped Jake unload my luggage.
