“Brandon, is she the new chick you were telling us about?” One of the jocks asked while he eyed me with a perverted grin.
What’s wrong with the students here? Geez.
“Yes, my literature buddy.” He sang out sarcastically as he strutted over to take a seat next to me. Again.
I felt like stabbing myself with the silver stainless steel fork in front of me. Why was this happening again? It was like I was having déjà vu all over. But this time, worse.
I shifted slightly away from him as though he had some contagious disease, moving nearer to Trevor. For some weird unknown reason, I felt more at ease when I was nearer to him.
I sat there for a full seven minutes staring at my tray full of food and started playing around with it with the fork I intended on stabbing myself with. The boys were talking about me as if I weren’t there.
“Do you think she has a boyfriend?”
“I would totally do her man.”
“I’m guessing she’s either a B or C cup!”
Eww gross.
It made me sick to the stomach and lost my appetite. Why are boys so annoying and when would my stupid nightmare end? I frowned in disgust and thankfully, Trevor noticed how awkward and uncomfortable I was and attempted to start a conversation with me in order to distract me.
“Are you alright Kat? You haven’t touched your food yet?” He asked in concern.
“I lost my appetite.” I muttered in reply to Trevor.
“Come on!” Trevor exclaimed, and with that, he grabbed my left wrist and led me out of the cafeteria. “You need to get some fresh air.”
“But….” I mumbled however he turned and gave me a reassuring smile. Hence, allowing him to drag me along to wherever he planned to kidnap me to.
While I was trying to keep up with his pace, I stumbled over my own feet. Today was really not my day. However, to my surprise, his fast reaction allowed him to whirl around just in time to catch me from my fall.
It reminded me of the scene in Twilight when Bella Swan was almost hit by a truck and that’s when the hero, Edward Cullen, appears, in the speed of lightning along with his super strength to save the damsel in distress.
But I’m no damsel in distress. I was simply… Clumsy beyond words. Lets just stick with that.
“Whoa there, careful.” He steadied me. I smiled gratefully at him and we continued walking to who knew where he was taking me to.
He brought me to a secluded garden where there was no one to be seen there.
"Welcome to my secret hideout. This is where I always come to to escape from everything for a little while." Trevor spoked enthusiastically.
It was beautiful. There were two rows of trees covered under the white fluffy snow which glistened under the sunlight. Trevor brushed off the snow on the bench and invited me to sit next to him. Despite the biting cold weather, I really enjoyed sitting here, admiring the allurement of this new place I had just discovered, feeling thankful towards him.
We sat there for about five minutes until he decided to break the peaceful silence and asked, “So, why did you decide to move here all of a sudden? Did something happen?”
“What makes you think that something happened?” I retorted.
“Your... I don’t know how to say it but I can tell that you’re not happy. Since you arrived here, you kinda gave it away. Even though you’re smiling, your eyes give me the vibe that you’re not really happy.”
