Mari POV
They led me out of Asgard, through a hidden tunnel in the outskirts of the city. The tunnel wasn't very long and we soon where released into a dark forest-like area. It was just light enough to see that they had left their equipment here.
There was a bag or two filled with supplies and an odd sled-like devise. It was made of wood and leather, with a chair-like back. There were straps for, I assumed, keeping something in place.
While the others grabbed bags and prepared to move, one led me over to the "sleigh". He open the straps and got me to sit with my legs out straight. I didn't argue as he tied them loosely around my legs.
He threw a blanket over my body and joined the others.
"May I ask who you are and what you want with me?" I ask, watching them from where I sat.
"We are Clohkraw, the children of the forgotten tribe of Cloh." said the largest of them. "We have laid in wait for the child of the great prophecy. You will lead us to the burial place of Clycenyo."
There was a flash of color in the corner of my eye, so I looked to see... Nothing. There was nothing there.
I ignored it and looked back at my 'captors'. They were all packed up and ready to move.
"Tell us how to get to Clycenyo." one demanded. "It is what you were born to do."
"What?" I asked, confused.
"You are the one the great prophecy talks of. The child of wisdom and sight."
"May I hear this prophecy?"
"No. Now tell us where to go."
I closed my eyes and picked through the information on directions. Then it clicked. The instructions to a journey with no destination that had been in my head since birth.
"Head west for 30 kilometers then travel along the cliff base untill the waterfall. From there, take the dirt road which will bring you straight to it." I told them.
They looked to each other, then a Clohkraw grabbed each end of the sleigh and lifted it, along with me, off the ground. They got walking.
A couple times in the first leg of the journey I thought I saw the flash of green in the corner of my eye again. It could have been an animal or a person following, but I doubted the latter.
We met the cliff face in the early evening, so the Clohkraw decided that we should stop for the night. One undid the straps, and I realized something wasn't right.
"Why can't I feel my legs?" I asked him, smoothing out my skirt and patting down my leg.
Nothing. I couldn't feel it.
"It's to make sure you don't leave." He said before walking off.
It was official, I wasn't the guide to them. I was their captive.
I looked around where we stopped. The cliff hung above us at an odd angle from our perspective and the woods were thick around us. It was clear, weather wise, though the sky was grey.
I was fidgeting with my unfeeling thighs as I searched between the trees for signs of life. It was silent other than the Clohkraw as they began to speak in their language.
And there it went again! That little blur of green at the edge of my sight.
I stared at where I thought it had disappeared; a thick tree about ten meters to my right. Then it showed itself.
From behind the tree stepped a familiar figure. Where one eye saw nothing, the other took in the lovely sight of a man in green and black 'armor'. Loki stood there with the royal staff in his right hand. I watched as he puckered his lips slightly and brought a finger to his mouth, signaling to be quiet.
I could only assume he was here to watch and see what would happen. Doubt he would help at all.
He moved to sit cross-legged on the forest floor. Meeting my gaze as I looked him over, it was apparent that he would be staying that way all night.
So I tried to slide down in the sleigh, though it took a bit considering I couldn't move from the waist down. I laid on my back and stared at the sky for a bit, watching Loki through the corner of my eye. He didn't move, nor make a sound the entire time.
Eventually, my eyes became heavy and I drifted off to sleep.
In the morning, the Clohkraw carried me down along the cliff-face toward our ever approaching destination.
Since I had discovered Loki following us, he had decided to walk alongside the sleigh. He stayed at least three feet away and remained invisible to everyone but me.
He very seldom acknowledged me other than little glances. So I all but ignored his presence.
It took us over half the day to reach the waterfall. The whole time, I just sat in thought. Thinking about where we might be, what might live here, and how Loki and I used to be good friends.
The thoughts just kept reappearing in my mind. How as soon as he fully realized Odin's favoritism towards Thor would leave him in the past and he began trying to earn his fathers approval, I had become a thing of his past.
We used to be real close up untill the age of twelve, when he just stopped talking to me. I asked Thor about it when Loki wouldn't see me and he said Loki had become distant and didn't really talk much.
That was five years ago, and now at the age of fifteen Asgardian years, I am a full grown adult. With Loki beeing 17 and Thor 18, I was easily the youngest in our old trio.
I was pulled from my thoughts as I heard the heavy roar of water crashing into the rocks. The waterfall was quite exquisite and as we watched, the water ran over the edge of the cliff, fall, and land in the pool below. The thing that made this waterfall different though was something I had never seen before. Halfway down the stream, the water changed from crystal blue to a bright, emerald green.
It wasn't just the light. There was a straight line in the middle where the color changed. It was one of the most strange and beautiful things I'd ever seen.
The Clohkraw ignored it and started heading up a little dirt path that ran alongside the river which the waterfall joins.
As we walked I started to worry about what lay ahead and how I would be needed in this little 'expedition'.
A/N: So this fanfic is based off of the events of the Avengers and Thor movies. If there is any confusion or anything, don't hesitate to ask in the comments. I'm hoping this is good because it's the only fanfic so far that I've written the whole plot for. (plus sequel and threequel) For my other stories, I have the ideas and plots in my head or am making it up as I go. So I'm hoping this one is more successful than the others because it's easier to write for.
Anyways, thanks for reading!
