A young married couple face the cruel reality and dangers of war. James Nicholls, the husband, is very unprepared for war when learning only a week before he has to go. Mary Nicholls is suddenly burdened with carrying both of his worries and hers. Instead of allowing either of them to worry she keeps their spirits up with distractions and false hope.
