The first time they did it, Victor Gray was hunting them and Danni was exhausted after using her powers for so long.

Sam had pulled the raven haired girl into the bushes and pushed her to the ground. No easy task, Danni was always in balance and it was hard to catch her off guard. He leaned over her and caught her look of shock and nervousness.

He smiled and pushed a stray curl behind her ear. "You trust me right?" He asked.

There was no hesitation in her answer. She nodded. "With my life."

He grinned. "Then don't be nervous, okay?" Then he leaned down and pressed his lips to hers, hands holding hers with fingers twined together.

Sam could feel the heat growing in Danni's cheeks. He heard the rustle of the bushed and looked up without disconnecting his lips from Danni's. When he saw the red spandex and black glass he internally grinned.

Sam pulled himself up and leaned so his body would cover Danni, like he was protecting her, Danni played along. She shot up, looking frightened and slightly embarrassed, her hands on Sam's shoulders like she was hiding behind him.

Sam growled at Victor. "You mind?" He asked sarcastically, a raised eyebrow to make a point.

Victor backed up. "Sorry." He said. He didn't sound sincere. Then he left.

Danni and Sam leaned in closer, another play, in case Victor came back. Sam pressed his lips on Danni's cheek, feeling the burn of heat underneath. To anyone else, it looked like he was apologizing to his girlfriend for the interruption.

To Danni, it was a gesture of comfort, an apology for what Sam had done, a 'sorry' for scaring her.

To Sam it was a confession. He was saying "I love you" in his own way. He was also saying "I'm sorry" for scaring you, but he wouldn't tell Danni that. He pulled back. "I call that a Fake-Out Make-Out." He whispered in her ear.

She couldn't stop the shudder. "Interesting name." She blushed.

Thank God it was cold out.

Sam looked up. "I think it might rain soon. You wanna get home?" He asked.

Danni nodded. "Let's go."

The next time, it was after Desire made it so Sam hadn't met Danni and Sam had brought Danni down to her parent's lab to give her back her ghost powers.

Her parents had called down to ask what she was doing and Danni panicked. She looked at Sam. "You trust me?" She'd asked.

Sam nodded, registering the same words he'd used a year or so back.

Danni sighed. "Please don't kill me." She mumbled under breath. Then she grabbed his arms and pushed herself up on her toes to reach his height.

Sam was extremely surprised to find her pressing her lips insistently against his, as if they'd been doing this forever and now she wanted to go farther with their relationship.

He was too startled to actually kiss back, but it worked, because when Jackie Fenton came down the stairs and saw them, Danni pulled back, looking at Sam lovingly until Jackie cleared her throat.

Danni's head snapped in her mother's direction. "Mom!" She cried, cheeks flushed like she was embarrassed to be caught. To Sam, she whispered. "I call it a Fake-Out Make-Out."

Sam shook his head, dazed look still on his face. "I know." He mumbled back.

Jackie raised an eyebrow at Sam. "What's your name, young man?" She asked.

Sam figured he'd better not lie. "Samuel Manson. Nice to meet you ma'am. Sorry Danni hasn't brought you to meet me yet, she wanted to keep it low profile since she's got so much to worry about right now. I agreed." He told the older woman. Well, maybe not too much

Jackie smiled and nodded her approval. "Okay, mister, but don't let me catch you down kissing here again. Sensitive equipment down here. I don't want either of you getting hurt." She told them, then left the room.

Danni sighed in relief. She looked at Sam and kissed his cheek. "Thanks." She smiled.

Sam smiled. "Any time."

It became a kind of tradition between them, even where they where dating. Tamara would wonder why they did it, Victor would just scoff and pout because that could've been him, Paul would growl and stomp off, and Flash would flip her hair and smile, because she'd seen this coming and shipped it hard.

Danni and Sam didn't care though, it didn't matter to them. It was they're thing. And they loved it and each other.

It all started with a Fake-Out Make-Out.

Next scene? The Ultimate Enemy.
