Chapter: 6
Recap:
He expertly flipped the eggs and placed them on my plate with a side of mushroom and spinach. A protein shake on the side. Healthy. The way I liked it. I looked over to him and he looked distant like he was thinking deeply about something. His brows were furrowed and his pink lips slightly parted.
He opened his mouth, "Um summer, I've been meaning to ask you something. Will you go out with me?"Wait. What? Dis he just ask what I think he did. My mouth gaped, he wanted to ask me? Does that mean he likes me? Yay! He likes me! While I had a mini party in my head I forgot to answer and Jack tensed up, his biceps rippled as he stood before me shirtless.
“If um you don’t- I mean you don’t have- like it’s no big deal- you-“he mumbled running his fingers through his hair.
“Yes.”
“Yes as in yes?” he asked me, his mouth slightly ajar.
“No, yes as in no. Of course yes as in yes.” I told him. Ok, maybe I had a sarcasm problem but it doesn’t matter, I’m going on a date with Jack!
“Oh, sorry. So we’ll make the date on Saturday? I have the whole day planned. I’ll pick you up at, um, let’s say 12:00?” He told me as he leaned over and pecked me on the cheek. He is so cute, he even has the whole day planned. I just want to aw but I can’t because this isn’t the movies and there are no voice overs.
After another half hour of talking we decided to wake up the others and get ready for school. I took a shower and changed into a black and white polka dot mini shirt and tucked in a white button up. Even though Vanessa wanted me to wear heels I won and ended wearing my white converse.
“You look so different. I’m so glad that you are out of your short shorts. Its time you wore a skirt.” Vanessa told me as she applied some mascara to my eyes. She had a white dress with black owls as the print and was mid-thigh. She wore combat boots and had natural make up.
I ignored her and began humming and dancing around as I collected my phone and school bag. I hopped down the stairs, my skirt flouncing up and down on my olive skin leaving Vanessa struggling to keep up. I waltzed into the kitchen singing.
“Jesus Summer can you slow down?” Vanessa asked entering the empty kitchen.
“mhmm..” I answered my mind drifting to Jack’s hazel eyes and soft pink lips. She threw me a granola bar and an apple which I slipped into the side of my bag and we left to sit in the car to wait for Josh to come. Evan, Jack and the twins were taking Evan’s car while Josh, Vanessa and I were taking Vanessa’s red Ferrari. I hopped into the front seat and danced my fingers over the soft interior of the car, “wow” I murmured.
Josh finally jumped into the front seat and started up the car. I began to hum again and Josh stopped to turn to me, “Someone is definitely living in la la land. Why are you so happy?” He pried.
“I took a jog this morning and now I’m feeling better.” I told them as I bobbed my head. This day is perfect. “Yeah,” Vanessa added, obviously not believing my lie.
-----------------------------------
“What’s the actual reason you’re so happy?” Vanessa asked me when we were finally alone in the cafeteria.
“Josh asked me out!” I told her happily.
“Girl I want details” a boy with golden shaggy hair and green eyes sat down, his muscles rippling through his white vee neck. He looked wow.
“This is Alex, my gay best friend.” She told me stressing on the word gay.
“What a shame, I would totally go for that.” I told him truthfully.
