Chapter 19: The Three Words

Evan's POV

"Good luck baby brother."

My heart was racing like no tomorrow. So many questions ran through my head. How. How did Blake remember me? How is my dad? Why. Why is he back? Why does Summer need to know about my cancer ? Why did she have to find out first? Who? Who else knows about my cancer? When. When did Blake come back?

I began to shake and Summer interlocked our hands. Just her touch sent electricity through my veins. Summer sent me a warm smile. Great. I think I just got friend-zoned from someone who I don't even know if I like yet. But bad things aside, I felt at peace.

Looking at Blake, with his signature smirk on his face, gave me shivers because it was as if it was years ago before I even knew I had a brother.

*Flashback*

"I'm going to use your face as a straw because that's how bad you are going to suck."

"Well I'm going to smash you so hard that a pancake will have nothing on you because you'll be so beaten." Okay I admit it, I'm not the sharpest tool in the see when it comes to smack talk but it definitely makes up for it when I play.

Blame looked at me with complete and utter shock, "Did YOU, Evan Carter say something remotely smack talk?"

"Did YOU, Blake Wetherly say something remotely intellectual?" I shot back at him. Bad idea. Blake leaped forward and grabbed the front of my shirt in a ball. He lifted me off the ground so that I was eye level to him. For a thirteen year-old he was strong and built. I gulped loudly and Blake chuckled, the laughter rumbling through his chest.

"I don't get you Carter, you're the biggest wimp but you pack a mean game." He game me a big shake and I grabbed onto his shirt for support. Blake removed one of his hands from my shirt and I sighed. I jumped back from him but he gripped be tighter against his torso.

A fist came flying in slow motion towards my face. I gulped loudly, this is it, I'm going to die a little thirteen year old, I'm going to die a LIP VIRGIN! I shuddered at the thought of dying single and prepared myself for the blow of Blake's punch.

Being Blake's punching bag for the past 5 years have taught me a thing or two about his punches. I watched as his fist made it's way to my face and inches before it glided into my nose, I ducked and pushed him away.I landed a few feet away in a crouched position. It was the first time in 5 years that I had stood up to Blake. He looked beyond angry but I couldn't care less, I finally stood up to the bully.

"Boys is there a problem?" My father asked us, looking worriedly between Blake and I. We both shook our heads and put his arms around my shoulder. I embraced him tightly, he was my father after all and he''s never done anything wrong.
