Chapter 2: The Heart of a Kunoichi

Yuki could only stare at Leo in disbelief, thinking what he said was an impossibility. "I've been looking for Hamato Yoshi for two years ever since my mother died. But I never could track him down." He smiles at her. "Yeah there were some special circumstances that made that impossible." Yuki matched the turtle's grin. "I can see why considering that you and your brothers are turtles." She replied as they leave the ally. Not long after they arrive at a sewer grate. Although Yuki almost had to hold her breath to never allow the smell to enter her mouth, she asks no questions as they shimmy down into the sewers to find the one named Splinter. They arrive at an old abandoned subway station not too long after that has been decorated like an old studio apartment from the 70s and 80s, with outdated and tech and furniture in the living room, probably found at a salvage yard.

As they enter the living room a gentle but loud and firm voice calls out, "Ah my sons, welcome back! Was your mission a success and have you found Yuri's daughter?" Yuri almost skids to a stop. Yuri was my mother, this must be Hamato Yoshi. "Hai sensei. This is Yuki, her daughter." Leo replies. A giant rat enters the room wearing a maroon kimono with flowers on it. He looks at me and speaks. "My daughter, I am Hamato Yoshi, an old friend of your mother's. My sons call me Master Splinter or sensei. Your mother was one of the best ninja and Kunoichi I've ever seen in my life." Splinter turns to Leo. "Leonardo, fetch your brothers, Yuki will be sparring against the four of you to test her skills, so that I may evaluate her training."

As Leo gathers up his brothers, Master Splinter asks Yuki many questions about her training, how long she trained, who her sensei was, and how she trained after her mother died. Leo, Raph, Donnie, and Mikey gather in the dojo to watch Yuki spar against each one of them. Leo is the first to spar with her. As he goes up to spar, Mikey whispers to Raph and Donnie, "How much do you guys want to bet that Yuki will beat Leo?" Raph groans. "OK Mikey, Donnie and I will bet you each two whole pizzas that she wins, which means if she loses you have to buy each of us two pizzas." Mikey grins. "Deal!" He says shaking Raph's hand.

It was a close match but ultimately Yuki beat Leo delivering a slight blow to the plastron with her naginata, pinning him down. "Booyakasha!" Mikey shouts. More sparring matches go on with Yuki losing to Raph, and beating Donnie. Mikey who has won the prize of four pizzas, staying out of Donnie's lab, watching Space Heroes with Leo, and having Leo play dress up with Ice Cream Kitty and himself is up next. In the end Mikey beats her unaware that she knows about the bets...

She never would have been happy knowing that Leo and his brothers were making bets about her skills in combat, being appreciated was a Kunoichi is a must for her. After Splinter agrees to pick up her Kunoichi training she slips away from the training room, if only for a few moments. She needed to go back to her apartment and fetch things that are important to her. All of her mother's belongings were in a box in her apartment, the remnants of what she had left of her mother. She turns to leave when she bumps into Leo.

"Yuki, I'm glad you're going to be training with us." He says casually acting like nothing is wrong. She stalks past him. "Yeah sure you are." He blinks confused. "What's that supposed to mean? I meant what I said." She then spun on her heel, facing him with rage burning in her eyes. "Then why were you and your brothers making bets when I was sparring?!" He looks confused. "Bets? What do you mean by-? Oh I get it now. Mikey tends to get over excited about sparring and often bets that he and Donnie can beat me and Raph. He must have gotten over excited about someone else sparring for once. You have to remember Mikey acts like a 6 year old half the time."

Hearing that made her feel a slight pang of relief but not completely better. "Listen I need to go back to my apartment and get some things. Alone. It's nothing personal I just need to do this alone because some of the things I'm getting are my mother's belongings. It's too emotional for me to have someone with me."

Leonardo sighs solemnly. The fire in her eyes showed her iron clad desire to travel. However, he knew that if she would go, someone could potentially strike at her most vulnerable. He could never let her go alone. It would have been too dangerous.

"Well, if you're going, then someone has to go with you."

"Like who? You?" Yuki chuckles. before sprinting away towards the door. "You wouldn't last in a single fight against me."

"Still someone should be there. You know, just in case."

"In case of what? Sorry Leo, but I'm doing this on my own, and there's nothing you can do or say that can stop me."

She turns to leave through the turnstile entrance, and as she leaps over them, the only thing she leaves is a dumbfounded Leo, left to pick his open jaw figuratively off of the floor.
