Fluttering Silence (Kakashixreader)

The past

Sakura and Naruto stared silently as they watched Kakashi sensei walk to Tsunade's office until he was out of sight.

"Do you think we can find her?" Naruto said rubbing the back of his head.

"If Iruka sensei's lead is right we can bring her back" Sakura said, turning around on her heals and heading to the entrance gate.

Naruto was about to sit down at Ichikaru Ramen when Sakura spotted him.

"Naruto!" She waved trying to catch him before he sat on the bar stool.

"Whats up Sakura?" He said turning around grinning.

"I was going to go check on Iruka sensei, I was informed that he was feeling sick and was going to take him some medicine, do you want to come with me?" Sakura said holding up the bag of herbs and medicine.

"Sure, I can bring him some Ichikaru Ramen to go!"

Naruto placed and received his order, and the two headed to Irukas. The sun was setting as the shadows of the buildings grew taller, and the sounds of nocturnal bugs began to chirp. Iruka lived in an older part of town, a quaint neighborhood that was quiet, away from the bustling part of the city. When they arrived, there were a few lights on signaling that he was still awake, the sun now set and the moon peaking over the horizon. Sakura softly knocked on the wooden door, waiting a few seconds, hearing the creak of stairs from inside. Iruka cracked his door, peeking out to see who it was, then unlatched the lock.

"What a pleasant surprise, what are you two doing here?" He said, opening the door wider to let the two in.

"We heard you were sick so we brought you some gifts"Naruto said lifting the Ramen above his head and shuffling to the kitchen table. Iruka chuckled and joined the two at the table. They shared stories while enjoying their meal. Sakura volunteered to pick up the dishes, and brought them to the sink. She noticed a box with some photographs in the corner.

"Sensei, what are these?" She picked up the box showing him.

"Oh bring those here, I'll show you." He said waving his hand to come over. She set the box on the table and he began to pull pictures out of it.

"Since I've been sick, I've been feeling really nostalgic." Showing them his classmates and childhood friends, telling them stories of his youth. Sakura picked a large one out of the box, and stared at it intently. It was a young Guy, with his right arm wrapped around Kakashi's shoulders, and the left arm wrapped around a girls.

"Iruka sensei who is this?" Sakura said, handing him the picture. Irukas eyes widened, then he laughed.

"I'll tell you who it is, but you have to promise not to tell Kakashi I told you." The two young adults glanced at each other and nodded.

"This is (y/n)(l/n). She was a very skilled kinoichi. Her and Kakashi shared an inseparable bond. Shortly after Kakashi was appointed Anbu leader, she confessed her feelings to him. Her and Guy have been by his side since day one." Naruto waited patiently for Iruka to continue, but he sat with his arms crossed and eyes closed.

"Iruka sensei, what did he say when she confessed to him!" Naruto whined, leaning in with Sakura following. Iruka sat arms crossed for a moment before opening his eyes again and making eye contact with the two.

"I don't know, no one but Kakashi knows. A few days after her confession she went missing, and has been missing ever since." He stated, looking slightly sullen. "All the anbu investigations were unsuccessful, and her case was dropped-but I have heard rumors that Danzo and his 'roots' syndicate were involved. When people go missing its usually because of them."

"So wait sensei, shes been missing ever since, has Kakashi not been trying to find her?" Sakura said out of frustration.

"Shes been missing for years now, initially when it happened he searched and investigated for days, but he had no luck and was exhausted." Naruto blinked a few times.

"Hey can I see that photo?" Naruto took it from Iruka, and pondered for a moment.
"I think I know this lady" he said, Iruka and Sakura looking at him surprised.

"Well why didn't you say so before!" Sakura yelled snatching the photo from him and looking at it again.

"Here, I have a different one of her in it, its them two years after that." He held it to Naruto. It was Guy shoving (y/n) towards Kakashi, Guy appeared to be laughing, (y/n) blushing, and Kakashi annoyed with a hint of blush on his cheeks. By the background it appeared to be at the practice field. Naruto squinted at the photo, then exclaimed,

"Yeah I know her! When I was out training with Jariya Sensei, she tended to my wounds while Jariya went to go ogle at women at a tavern." Iruka slammed his hands on the table and stood.

"That's great Naruto, where was that at!?" Iruka and Sakura stared at Naruto's frowning face.

"uuhh, I don't exactly remember, a lot has happened since then." He said as Iruka sat back down disappointed and Sakura sighed.

"well we have a lead now, we just need to find her." Sakura said rising from her seat.

"Here, take this photo with you for reference." He handed her the second picture. "Don't lose it, I confiscated these from Kakashi when he was really depressed, I'm sure once she is found he will want them back." Sakura nodded, and with that they said their good byes, and left the house. Naruto glanced at Sakura.

"Do you want to go find her?"

"Of course, Kakashi sensei has done so much for us, its about time for us to repay the favor" She said with her fist closed and determination in her eyes.

The two approached the gate, gear in hand, and strode along the dirt path. Sakura pulled out a map and flipped it a few times to get it in the right position.

"Naruto, do you even know where we should head?" Sakura said, Naruto leaning against her to look at the map.

"I think we should try this town first." He said with his frown, a town about 15 miles out. She highlighted the town on the map and folded it up. This will be an interesting mission, she thought.
