Twins Next Door

Chapter 4

It was Friday after school. Mia was with the twins finishing their Science Project. She was sitting on the floor of Grayson's room completing the project. Once again, Ethan was lying in Grayson's bed on his phone. Mia and Grayson were talking about random things while doing the project. While talking, an idea popped up in Grayson's head.

"Mia?" She looked at him with a smile. "Tomorrow, me and Ethan have a football game. And I was wondering if you'd like to come watch us? I mean, we've never really had our friends come watch us play... I was wondering if you'd be the first? You don't have to, it was just a thought! But, will you come watch us?" He asked.

She smiled at him. "I'd love to! When is the game?"

A smile spread across his face. "Um, just be here at 8am. The game starts at 9 and we need to be there early, so we have time to change. We should be back by around 11. Maybe earlier, maybe later. Now I'm excited for tomorrow! But I'm also nervous. I hope we win! We've been practising a lot over the summer... I hope all that hard work has paid off!"

Mia went home at 5pm, and did her usual routine. After dinner, she went to her room and completed any homework she had. She then climbed into bed and set her alarm. She was so excited for tomorrow. Wrapping herself in her sheets, she closed her eyes and fell into a deep sleep.

Mia woke up at 7am. She crawled out of bed and had a shower. After the shower, she brushed her teeth and got dressed. She got changed into black skinny jeans, a shirt and white vans. She put her hair into a French braid. She placed her phone into her back pocket and walked downstairs. She grabbed an apple and walked outside.

She knocked on the door of the Dolan household. She was greeted by Grayson wearing his football shirt with the number 47 and yellowish shorts. He smiled as he welcomed her inside. She saw the rest of the Dolan family getting ready to leave. Ethan was wearing the exact same clothing as Grayson, but with the number 8 on his shirt. She greeted the family and they went to the match. Mia sat next to the family as they watched the twins play.

They each scored a few touch downs and their team won. After the match, Mia ran up to the twins and pulled them into a hug. "I'm so proud of you two! You did so well!" They hugged her as their family walked towards them. They continued to hug until their family was only a few steps away from them. The twins hugged the rest of their family and then walked to the car.

"So, what are we gonna do when we get back?" Mia asked.

"Well, first, we're going to take a shower. And then we could go long boarding, if you want. Or we could go in the swimming pool, or go to the park, or play video games? Anything you want to do, I guess!" Grayson said. Mia smiled at him. They arrived home and the twins went straight to the bathroom. After about half an hour, the twins were ready. They grabbed their long boards and they skated down the street. They skated to the skate park.

They started doing tricks on their boards. They spent the rest of the day together. They were sitting on the grass on the park. They were sitting in the shade of a tree. Grayson looked at Mia and spoke to her.

"Mia," he started. "Ethan and I have been invited to go to Press Play in New York. We are leaving tomorrow and we were wondering if you'd like to come with us. What do you say?!" Mia looked at them with a proud smile.

"I'm so proud of you two! I would love to come... but I've got something tomorrow," she said sadly. "I've got to go to a family thing. It's unavoidable. I'm sorry. I wish I could go, I really do!" The twins looked down, but forced a smile. They smiled at her, but she knew they were upset.

"I'll be here to meet you after! You can tell me all about it when you come back! We will play video games and talk about your new experience!" Mia said. They smiled at her idea. They spoke more and then made their way home. They said goodbye then went separate ways.

The twins had just arrived home from Press Play. Mia was outside and tackled them into a hug. "Hey! How was it?! Did you have fun?! Did you meet some of your fans?! Was it fun?!" She kept asking them questions. They hugged her as she spoke. They broke the hug and answered her questions.

"It was fun. We met some fans and got interviewed by a few people!" Ethan answered.

"It would have been more fun if you came," Grayson said sadly.

"I know, but I had a massive family reunion. My other relatives have just come back from war. I've got a big family. We wanted to welcome them back. And to congratulate a few for their marriage, their new born, their pregnancy and their engagement. It was really boring, but I got to meet relatives I haven't seen in a while. There was an argument between a few relatives. But what's a relationship without a few disagreements?" Mia described her day.

They went to the basement to play video games. They played for hours on end, until Mia had to go home. She hugged the twins goodbye, then went home. She couldn't be prouder to be known as their friend. She crawled into bed and fell asleep. Her life was finally turning around. She was having the best time of her life in New Jersey.

But it doesn't last very long...
