Wings of Darkness

Asuki's POV

After the darkness came a hurricane of noises. I felt around and I could hear the rustling of my friends. "Guys, what's happening?" I asked. "I don't know, everything's stopped." I heard John's voice respond. I felt around again, and I felt something soft, like the blessing of an angel. This softness was like touching air, but solid. I heard the sounds of flesh being cut, and metal being shattered. Did we get reinforcements? Probably not. Maybe it was Adversi? No, how could he fight off that many soldiers? A ton of questions flew around my head and then suddenly, everything died down. The noises had softened to the quietness of crickets chirping. We got up, but it seemed everyone was hurt, and it was hard to move. The blackness suddenly disappeared, and we looked around. Nothing in sight. We stepped out the circle the barrier once was covering, and observed the area. No one saw anyone until-

Adversi!

I rushed towards his body. I called James and Corina to attend to him. John came first, and checked his vitals. "He's alive- but barely. We need to get him onto a bed fast!" We looked around for anything soft that we could use, but nothing appeared. I panicked. Maybe we should have waited for Kahn to recover. Maybe we shouldn't have brought a newbie into such high level combat. Oh god...

Ratatatatatatatatatatatatata-

A hail storm was firing down upon us! More reinforcements, 24 grey-clad troops firing down on us with, yet again, miniguns. We sliced through some bullets, but were still hit, as we weren't able to keep up. We were pushed into a corner.

TSHRAW!

I heard the sounds of flesh being torn apart. My eyes widened as I turned around. Protruding from Adversi's back, were pitch black wings. These wings seemed to change form chaoticly, going from bat, to angel, to crystalline wings, squirming to spread around the area. "DoN't MeSs WiTh Me!" screamed the person I once thought was almost dead. The ever changing wings thinned out into tapering spikes, that extruded out reaching towards those firing down on us.

The spikes penetrated all 24 of the troops, ending their lives brutally.

The spikes buried themselves within Adversi, and he fell to the ground.

Abe was the first to say something, "What. The. Hell?"

The situation had happened so suddenly. None of us were sure what to think. However, I realized we had a limited amount of time. "Fortify this place! Barricade it before more come!" I commanded.

We got Adversi onto a bed and rebuilt the Northern Region. We fortified it and found most of the refugees hiding around. By the time it was yet again, midnight at the end of fortifying the region, we all were tired and went to heal at the base.

However, just like last time, I stayed up to look after Adversi. I stood next to him. It was definitely a Deja Vu moment. The pain in my arm stung up a bit, and I cringed. I looked at Adversi's body. It was highly scarred. Probably from fighting off 24 miniguns by himself. I sucked air through my teeth scanning his body. I grasped his hand within mine. Very soft...! I pulled my hand out, not wanting the past events to reoccur. But when I pulled my hand out, I lost most of the fire that raged within my paining body. Only minor twitching and stinging happened. I'd been healed!

Healing people is very easy as a Wielder, but to heal Wielders that are damaged by weapons that actually hurt Wielders? Oh no, that's very, very hard. I was a beginner at it, and was still learning. He seemed to have that ability. The ability to heal Wielders.

This person was special. He was very powerful. However, since he lost his memory, he didn't know how to use that power. Being the leader of the WF, I had to learn how to manipulate this power to take back all the regions, and maybe even conquer the Chaos Realm. Region W and North done, 4 more to go.

I grabbed his hand one more time, and the minor stinging went away. I felt a satisfying sensation. I'd realized that maybe he could heal someone else. I went off to James and Corina's room, because I knew they would be up.

I knocked on their door, and I heard shuffling. "You there?" I called? After a few seconds of silence, I heard the door unlock and open. Corina, with bandages wrapped around her forehead, answered. "Yeah, Commander?" she asked. "I want you and James to come with me! I discovered something!" I answered. She looked behind her and said, "James'll need a minute or two to get up." She helped James, who had broken a leg, up onto some crutches, and they followed me to the medical room. Luckily it was a short distance, only a 15 second walk. We opened the door and entered.

I motioned towards Adversi, and they followed. I told them, "When I grasped his hand, everything healed!" They didn't seem to notice my well-being. "Wow! Are you sure it'll work for us too?" Corina asked. I shook my head and said, "Unfortunately, I don't know. Why don't you try?" Corina grasped his hand, but nothing seemed to happen. However, minor cuts and gashes did heal. "It worked, but not like yours did..." she trailed off. James had grasped Adversi's hand, and he was able to stand up without the crutches. The scratches and cuts on him still remained, but his broken leg had been healed. "Woah! This might work for everyone!" he said. I nodded, and woke up Kristi to come try.

She grasped his hand with unease, but no effect seemed to take place.

"You said it would work!" she complained. "Well, that's what we thought." Corina said. "Maybe it only works for specific people-" said a voice that came from the door. John was standing there. "According to history and past records, when a Wielder skilled in healing loses their memory, they are only able to heal the wounds of those who they've made a strong bond with. They can only retain the strongest healing with the one who they have made the strongest bond with." pointing towards Adversi. "So if he is truly a Wielder, and he lost his memory, that means you and Adversi have had a past connection, and a strong one at that." he reasoned. "But I've never even met him in my entire life!" I tried to rebutt. "They say there's a special event called a "Memory Wipe" that a Wielder can activate, but it's an ancient technique, dating back 900-1000 years ago. What if this guy knew how to use it, and made friends with you? Then he activated a "Memory Wipe" and you forgot about him. Same goes for Corina and James." he said.

"That's a bit of a stretch," said someone behind him. Abe and the others were standing there. "We heard the commotion and came to see what was going on. Fill us in!" Abe said. They entered through the doorway and spilled into the room. "Guys, you should be resting!" I said. "We're alright! Adversi saved us from a ton of pain, might as well come visit him!" Sophia said. She nodded. "Well, fine. What we're talking about what happened last night." John said. "Oh, yes. That was a surprise," said Slag, nonchalantly. They formed a circle around the bed. Kahn wasn't there, I had noticed.

"Wait, Asuki! You look super healthy, like, totally unscathed!" noted Sophia. I nodded and said, "Adversi healed me!" She was surprised, just like the rest of the people around me. "Oh really? How?" asked Jax. I explained to them how when I grabbed his hand I was healed, and when it happened to James, his leg was mended. When Kristi tried it, nothing happened. The group took turns trying it, with the only successful outcomes being Corina and John.

After conversing for a while, everyone failed to notice the figure stirring and sitting up. They were too deep into the conversation.
