Shade

"Honey, come downstairs. You're going to be late for your first day of school!" Shade's mom yelled.

He ran down the stairs and darted out the door without even saying goodbye. He knew his mom would cry while kissing his face, take some pictures, and cry some more. He didn't have time for that, and he was getting too old for it, anyways.

When he walked into school, he saw the girl he'd had a crush on since grade school. He had plenty of chances to get with her, and he knew she liked him. But he for some reason always backed down. He decided she was probably too good for him. So, instead, he moved on from girl to girl, knowing each relationship wasn't going to last.

Carson

There he was. With his black hair, blue eyes, and black Nike drawstring bag. He was the cutest boy she had ever seen. She knew she would never have him, but she couldn't stop liking him.

She hadn't noticed she was staring at him until he waved at her. She felt her cheeks get warm, as she smiled and looked away. No one had ever made her felt this way before.

"Hey Carson." He said, poking her sides. She jumped at first, but then realized it was him so she giggled. "How was your summer?"

"It was alright." She lied. Her summer was awful. "How was yours?"

"It was good. What did you do?"

Thought about you. Got kicked out of my own house. "Nothing much. Just hung out with Devan mostly. How about you?"

He could almost tell she was lying. But he didn't say anything. "Oh, you know. Hung out with friends. Taught my little brother how to skateboard. That's about it. But hey, I have to get to class. I'll see you at lunch?" He smirked.

God he was so adorable.

"Yeah. See you at lunch." She smiled to herself, and walked to her first period.

I rushed to lunch, still thinking about him. I rushed up to my friends, Chloe, Emily and Devan in the lunch line, and told them about Shade.

"No way, he's bad news." Chloe said, shaking her head.

"He's a player, Cars. What do you see in him?" Emily asked, looping her arm in mine.

"I think you should go for it." Devan said quietly, shrugging his shoulders.

"Guys, I know he's a player. And I don't know why I like him. Alls I know is I do. Thanks Dev. At least someone's on my side." I said jokingly.

Usually I would care what my friends thought, but this time, I didn't.

"Yeah, yeah. Enough about your dumb crush. Let's go kick these freshmen out of our seats." Emily said, walking over to the table full of freshies, that we've been sitting at for the three years we've been here.

"Carson, this Saturday, my place, we've got planning to do." Devan
