city lights.

city lights.

The lights are blinding

as we speed across the free way,

the wind in our hair,

every ounce of happiness we have

ever known

in our lungs, buzzing at our fingertips,

drenching our minds in adrenaline

at that very moment.

the city glows a mess of

a thousand colors

that blur in the distance

but reminds us of

freedom,

safety,

home.

and i see the city lights,

the same ones from that night

that pull me in,

and engulf me in its safety,

every single time

i lay my eyes on you.
